Summer 2012 Granny "Square" Swap (sign ups closed)

Well yesterday I went to JoAnn's to pick up some more yarn. I thought my flyer coupons were in the car, but couldn't find them any where. The cashier asked if I got their e-mails on my phone, so I was able to pull it up and use it to get 50% off a skein.

Then she asked if I had downloaded their app that I could use that as well. I quickly down loaded it to get another 50% off another skein.

I paid reg price for a few.

The cashier said I could have used the mailer, e-mail coupon and app. I was pretty excited to find out about that. Too bad I didn't have my flyer coupon w/ me.

I picked up 2 cranberry and a Ivory shimmer & shamrock shimmer. I still have skeins of the Ivory & shamrock shimmer, but thought those colors might not be around much longer. I was completely out of cranberry though. I didn't find the Lav Blue. I think they have it at Michaels.

Well finally got the squares in the mail today, they have been boxed and ready to go for a week or so, but just had not gotten a chance to run by the post office.

I put a piece of paper w/ my addy on it in the box for return, and the stamps to send it back are in a waxed paper type envelope the post man gave me it is inside the box too.

Ok.... so... if my squares are more "traditional" than fancy like the AMAZING ones you ladies have created...... is that ok???????? I have just not had the time to devote to do very intricate detail..... So sorry about that!

Mine are also just plain granny squares. I don't know how to do the fancy squares.

I am beginning to doubt that I will be done on time. I don't have to mail them. I just have to drop them off to Sunny but life has been crazy and I'm not quite half way done at this time. I am only doing one set of 6" squares so I'm still hoping I can find a quiet moment to get them done soon.

BTW Sunny has promised to help me once she finishes her squares if I don't get them done soon. I know she has her hands full at the moment as well... Just wanted to post and let you know I might be a couple days late.

TADA! Drum roll please..... We have our first shipments in! Beth and Diana and Alethea's squares all arrived today!!! You are all going to be so tickled when you see them! They are all very beautiful!!!

Don't be sorry! I agree with the others, it makes a project to have a mix. Too many intricate squares together can make a project look too too busy. We will love your squares I'm sure!

Plain granny squares are great to mix in with the other patterns. If not a project would be just too busy! Don't feel bad if you are a couple days late. At least you don't have to mail them, so that bids you some time as well. Life is just crazy. I'm still working on my second set and will be cutting it very close to finish by the deadline as well.

I didn't get finished yet, I've been doing and redoing grades all week and finally got them in just before the deadline at 5 today! I probably won't mail them until Monday, but mine and Jessica's will be in the same box. I wanted to get them there early but it doesn't seem to be in the cards for me.

I really hate that I don't get any notification for the thread... I get so caught up in other stuff I am doing and forget to come check on the chickens --- oh, and the swap. Sunny, can you please send me a PM so I can ship my squares. I will get them out on Monday. I have been trying to catch up on all I missed... you all have been busy little posters! And it was wonderful to see Rancher back in the mix.

Kaussandra... I saw last night there was a Fall Swap started... can you send me the link and sign me up?

I've been working on my NFL afghan along with a Halloween and a Birthday Gems swap. The Halloween one is black and orange only so I did orange squares with black witches hats on them and black squares with orange pumpkins. The Birthday Gem swap... everyone uses the color for their own birthday gem... mine is turqoise so was very easy to find. When I get home tonight, I will post some pictures. I have to say, I believe the NFL afghan is going to be fabulous when it is done. DH has already claimed it for his own. I have a 16 inch square for the center that is the NFL logo and will have 32 8 inch squares, one for each team. I only have 7 left to complete and am waiting on fleece that I have ordered for 5 of them to come in. Not sure yet what I am going to do about the last two teams (Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars) as I have not been able to find anything to incorporate their logo on an 8 inch square. I was able to do a graph for some of the teams but these will not fit.
