Summer 2012 Granny "Square" Swap (sign ups closed)

Hahaha! My DH loves to help with everything! It is both endearing and irritating depending on the situation. The whole time I am trying to sort and think about what I need to be doing he is firing questions at me, many for the fifth or sixth time (I know he can't help it). Sigh... maybe next time I just need to wait until he's off doing something else then I can quietly go and get my work done.

My husband loves to help, but it must involve a wire, plug, button, engine, or even better a remote! lol

LOL! Ah such true words could be spoken about most every man I know. hee hee
My son often tells me "you're such a guy Mom"! But I do not have the fascination for remotes and buttons that men have so I think I'm safe in retaining my femininity... so far. hahaha He says this because I hate to ask for directions, I was a machinist for 9 years and love building most anything, hate shopping (especially shoe shopping and my closet reflects this badly) and the worst of all (according to my girlfriends this is a crucial feminine gene I'm missing) I don't care for chocolate much.

But there are many things that my DH does that are so typically male that I console myself with the fact that "well at least I don't do that".

There just are no words!!!!!!!

I didn't even think about Alethea's squares and know you had to swap my box to add hers. Please let me know how much extra postage it was so I can send it to you! I am sorry I didn't think about that before and go with the next size box.

Can't wait to get these back and see all the lovely squares in person!!

I'm sure the same sizes will make it much less confusing. I was so into the idea of matching different sizes together in the same afghan that I never thought about the extra work it made for sorting. Besides it wouldn't have been that big a deal if I hadn't messed up my back already the day I locked myself out. LOL I think I missed giving someone one of my 12" squares. When I got home there was one on the floor and I shouldn't have had any left. PM me if you didn't receive a 12" block from me (or 2 if you did 2 sets).

My only other advice is to not let anyone help you with the sorting. It just made it that much more confusing. The different block sizes also made the postage much higher sending these things back than receiving them. About half of the packages were $2 more going back. Yours was exactly the same though. That big box didn't weigh any more on the return trip. haha
Yes Kassaundra is hosting one.

Kassaundra you need a link to that web page in your signature.

As you probably all gathered by now the blocks got off early this morning! Except the one of course. Let me know as you receive them.

Beth the UPS store was open too so yours went off this morning as well. Hope you all like them!

OK you had included $9.40 worth of postage and it was $11.80 to send it in the new box so that leaves $2.40. Hmm, that was pretty close considering it was a bigger box. I'm not gonna stress about a couple bucks here or there. I had so much fun and being the host means I didn't have to ship my own package but if you want to send a couple bucks I won't argue.

Oops! In looking closer at the receipt I actually owed Kassaundra 42 cents. Sorry Kassaundra! I didn't realize you put over the amount of postage in so I just stuck all the stamps you had on the box. Funny how the PO didn't mind keeping the overages but they sure charged if the package was a few pennies shy.

Every one else was within a dollar or under so please don't worry about it. It really isn't worth the postage and time to send these amounts. You would use up more in postage and gas to get it here.

One time I had a creditor use a 32cent stamp to send me a bill for 25cents! seriously!!!! So I used a 32cent stamp and taped a quarter to the inside of the envelope.

That is just ridiculous! Some people don't seem capable of thinking logically.

So since you overpaid by a bit, that means it was Bama Gal that sent exactly the right amount of postage. To the penny in fact. I'd say that is pretty good figuring.

The company I used to work for.... I mailed out the statements. If I had one that was under a quarter... I took the amount owed to the cash office and cleared their accounts. Could not stand to see one sent out with such a ridiculously low amount due!

Sunny... I make trips to the post office all the time... one is literally 100 feet out of my way home from work. As soon as I get some cash, I will drop you an envelope in the mail. You should not be responsible for any additional postage, especially since you were the hostess! Thank you so much!

Nice to know someone working in accounts is reasonable.
