MOM! I think the chicken is CAR SICK! eeewwwww!!!!!!

Are silkies the only breed of chickens that have black skin?

I had a little roo from the pen I got as a backyard flock. The roo in that pen is a banty EE and at that time there were black tailed white japanese, and seabright hens. Oh, there was a buff cochin roo banty. The roo I referred to was from an egg from that pen. He was dominate buff colored and had the general look of the jap crosses.

He recently died and then I found out all of his skin is black. Just curious where the black skin came from. There was never a silkie in with them unless it was before I owned them.

Here's the count so far... 2 b.c. marans, 2 bantam partridge wyandottes and 9 golden lakenvelders. There are several more pipped and some zipped, so I expect the count to go up a little tomorrow.

I keep telling myself I'm not going to hatch any more this year, but I'm still trying to get some more marans, so I guess besides the ones in the hatcher and the ones in the turners, I will start one more batch in a few days, and then that is it for this spring.

Gosh, my marans are laying HUGE eggs right now. The little marans chicks are really big and heavy. Sure hope I get some more.

The people with Ameraucana's I want some but DH will shoot me if I get any more I have some wheaten Maran's coming. I lost my only blue Ameraucana

would love a blue or blue wheaten one I miss my blue eggs. Wonder if I could convince DH that the they just showed up in my back yard

Well the new pen is about 3/4 done welded wire is up need to put in gate and cover top nail bottom wire and add hardware cloth to the bottom of wire and put in sand and then we can move them to their new pen/coop. Then we have to start on the raised garden beds in front and building the patio. I am also have to re arrange rooms in the house. So I might be on line once in a while I am going to try and get one BYC each morning before I start my projects.

Kansas boy did any of your silkies hatch, my DD is still looking for a couple of silkies if anyone knows of someone who wants to get rid of a few. Hope everyone stays cool this week.

, only ended up with one molted bantam cochin, one EE, and one orp hatching (and pretty lucky they even made it through the 24 hrs of no heat in the bator! But, I did mention to her that I know someone with silkie babies that I'm pretty sure I can get y'all a good deal from (think they're only 6 weeks now), but I won't see him again until middle of the month! I believ he has white, black, and buffs left (they're so hard to sex though that you'd orobably need to buy a few to make sure and get a Pullet... Guessing from their posture only gets ya so far lol. I'll be texting her pics as soon as I can meet up with him again!
