I‘m here again to report a crime!

I was down weeding my garden. Crouched down minding my own business and the beige bastard came down and assaulted me.

To put this in perspective my little garden is below a 20ish foot bank. Up above the bank is my back lawn. The ducks never go down to the garden, it’s an ordeal getting down their for them and probably spooky too as I’m pretty sure they’ve seen the resident fox “Sigourney” down there on occasion.

I figured I was safe from duck nonsense all the way down there, but as I’m weeding away I hear that little monster’s voice rasping away. I turn around and he’s there, on top of the rocks at the top of the bank staring down at me.
He started pacing around, then starts half climbing, half tumbling down the bank as all I can do is watch in bewilderment.

Once he’d made it to the base of the bank he tears off towards me. At this point I figured that he was enticed by the prospect of uprooted worms and would just weedle around me as I worked, but that would be a rational thing for a duck to do and Sunbeam is not rational.

He charged right up to me and bit me on the face! I swatted him away and he bit me twice on the hand. I picked him up and he bit me on the arm.
I‘m covered in duck pinches!

Sounds like someone needs to be put on a platter! I am sorry, I could not tolerate that and would not eat him but would rehome him to a friend that probably would. I have 20 ducks and have never been attacked nor will I ever and if I would be it would only happen once. Then the one doing it would be gone. Sorry for the abuse you got. Everyone's tolerance is different though so if you can tolerate that behavior than that's fine, it's your duck not mine.

Ouch.

He is a little monster but the twinkle in his eye when he’s after me cracks me up every time!
I have 2 that at times nibble my toes
But they are also the ones who run over to greet me
Let me pick them up without running away
They have never tried to bite me when held ( knock on wood )
My biggest babies of the flock and they protect their ladies very well
They also protect the eggs

Sunbeam is a great nest protector too, hes a stinker but at least he has some priorities straight!

Then you'd be eating my Muscovy drake Opie, he is my baby at almost 12 yrs old but he can also be a pest. His hormone level was over the top a month ago now he seems to be settling some. He is at least not trying to pick a fight with me and he doesn't have to be tossed into the pool 2-4 times a day.

I am just so spoiled by my Ducks that I can't imagine one of them going after me. I am glad that Opie is behaving now for you. He probably loves being tossed into the pool, lol. I have a question for you. I have heard that Runner Ducks usually have worms. I know you have Runners and do you find that to be true? If so what do you give yours? I see no signs in my ducklings but was curious as to how I would know if they have them and what to give them. Thanks so much for your help.

I don't know where you heard that but Runners aren't any different than other ducks as far as getting worms. The only difference is they are taller than other domestics lol I have never seen worms in my ducks poop. I have seen roundworms in my chickens though.

I do worm all my birds together becasue they all eat together. It's my chickens that actually need the worming though. If I only had ducks and they were kept like most of us keep them []not in horrid conditions] I'd most likely not worm.
I use a herbal wormer from Molly's Herbals.
