Um .. if I can't hear them I imagine the worst and keep going to check on them. I kind of prefer the ones that make happy sounds when bathing in the pond. I know where they are and what they are up to.

That's something that happens to me with newly acquired birds, but for the birds I've had for a long time, I don't tend to worry, my problems seem to happen during the day

My kitchen window and my office window (one floor above kitchen ) give onto the duck pond, so with the Kahki I can hear them chattering and splashing. When the sound stops I go out to check, that is usually when they have wandered off into a spot I don't want them in. If they are within 'hearing' distance I am confident.

I adore this mucky ducky, but it doesn't change the fact that they gave me nothing but poop for mothers day!
Further proof (as though it were needed) that I'm just seen as their servant!

Ok, but, in fairness, doesn't that poop make the most beautiful perennials grow? Isn't that better than a handful of glorified weeds from the grocery store?

Duck Poop! The true gift of flowers :)

As a plant parent, you got my attention
Oh, duck poop! There are no better fertilizers!

I put a pump in the "little" duck pond and use that to water the garden. (The water from the bigger pond then refills the little pond by gravity)

I am suddenly the gardener other people look to for advice (I have no real skill, so I just babble vaguely and make hand gestures, ending with a "of course, you know what I mean" people just want to look like they are smart so they quickly agree with that statement, and I quickly change the subject)

Where has this thread been all my life? :bow
I've been owned by various flocks of ducks over the course of 4 years. Mix that with 2 broodies in the works and you get the Coalition of Ducks Against Caregiver (or CDAC). Tonight's a cold night so I had to surround nest box with straw bales. Accidentally bumped the box and was hissed at for several heartless minutes:oops:😂. Next I had to give them some cracked corn by walking within 10 feet of said nest box., left the run door open and the other ducks ran out

Welcome home 🏠 (watch where you step, there are a lot of puddles about the place)

Coalition of Ducks Against Caregiver (or CDAC

That is a pretty powerful lobby group ... Did you know there is a Canadian chapter? CCDAC (Canadian Coalition...) If you've heard a Canada goose honk you know how to pronounce it... They are proud members. No one wants to argue the fact they are not actually ducks... Best just to give them membership cards and say nothing...

(From this day forward you will laugh at the sound of a Canada goose honking, and mumble CCDAC to the consternation of those around you who will never fully understand)
