Support Group for Abused Duck Keepers

I tried to vent sex because the ducks are 2 weeks old, it took ten seconds to figure out i have a boy and a girl. Tsunami is a boy and Toxic is a girl. Now to find a home, i will keep him until he is atleast 7 weeks just to make sure he is a boy. But im a little sad, he is so friendly
My boy Khaki Campbell was the friendliest duckling ever, he was very outgoing and fearless. I think girls may be made to be a little more shy... Better at hiding to protect their eggs. He has a lovely personality & disposition

Maybe you need to make him watch a video of a egg pipping and hatching🤣🤣🤣
I suspect he would not be amused... ;)

My spouse walked in on me watching a video on making a roll-away egg boxes and after a few minutes said "this is pretty boring" (I thought it was fascinating because the video had lots of little chickens walking around singing the egg-song so loudly the person trying to explain had to keep stopping to wait for them to shut up)

Yeah ... We don't have the same taste in movies... :)

Yea he is so much more friendly, he loves to be held and definitely is not as shy as Toxic. Toxic is shy and doesnt like to be held. I hope the 2 Welsh Harlequins i get are females.

we can make one as a group. Maybe a new thread ?
I like it!
Not her's. Her bites hurt more then chickens given the fact that she shakes and just latches on. It wasn't a joke when I compared her bite to a bee sting.
Don't say that!! I'm a first-timer with broody ducks and tomorrow is day 10 or 11 so its candle day! I'm worried about them biting especially when I'm literally reaching in to take their eggs :oops:😂

...But seriously, I was gonna ask y'all earlier today, how should I go about candling with the broodies? Do I need to at all? And if so should I candle only on day 10 and not again after that? @New duck mommy 2021
the head shaking sounds ouch
This is what my blue runner does to my mallard occasionally still, since they're both sitting on the nest. Sometimes when mallard shifts positions my runner bites and really really yanks at her head:barnie

Guys check out the feather colour on my mixed girl!!! Right above her wing!
Her mom is a wild mallard, I'm pretty surprised by just how large she is 👀

Wow! Looks like my buff duck from 2 years ago when he first started feathering out. How was the mom a wild mallard?

Got it from a friend. She found her as an injured duckling. The little girl is missing some of her right wing and can't see so well on her right eye, so there was no chance og releasing her. But she's amazing with people, and lays a surprising amount of eggs so I honestly couldn't be happier 🥰
Awww thats adorable! Sorry to hear about her, though :(. I'm sure she's in very good hands now.
