Support Group for Abused Duck Keepers

How is everyone and how are your ducks? I'm not online too much these days but it's nice to see this thread still active!

My girls have been commiting crimes all week long, it started when I checked Sprightly's leg. She had severe bumble foot last year and I've been keeping an eye on her feet ever since. She did not approve. She kicked her grubby wet little feet and shot POOP directly into my eye. 3 eye baths and a couple of days later and my sight has cleared up, but I feel slightly traumatised :sick

She's such a silly goose. Tonight I noticed she had no nostrils, I was about to put her to bed and ended up having to investigate where they had gone. Spoiler alert, I found them buried under 3 layers of dried mud :lau

I know what you're thinking, this sounds bothersome but not very abusive of her... but let me tell you, while I was freeing Sprightly's nostrils, Dougie was battering and beating me up! She kept throwing herself at my back. She knows me, dare say, she likes me, I am her mother- but if I am "bothering" her sister, she unleashes her inner demon! Both girls were relieved to be done and go to bed, hope they don't have a grudge tomorrow lol

This morning 2 of my Runners decided to get into the small pool only problem it was frozen. So they stand there looking at me like okay now you've done it. Ever since we had the -2 temps and snow and ice they have not let me forget that they blame me for every bit of it.

I dug BLOCKS of ice out of the pond during the first proper freeze here, they were so heavy and cold I had to leave them in the pen. This was a mistake. I joked that they could pretend to be penguins, this was also a mistake - the look of absolute death they gave me and the pile of ice... they use that side of the pen now it has melted, but wouldn't go near it while it was there.

I remove their pond for janurary/February because it's usually much too cold for it, they're going to be happy to have it back next month! For now they make do with puddles which I add to their pen on mild days

Mine actually preferred to dunk themselves in the snow as opposed to the water. They were very disappointing when Spring came. Each day there was less and less snow, and they pouted about it.
I wish we had more snow here! Of course we are more north now so we've had snow but it never settles on the ground. I do NOT want the amount of snow you get, but a little would be fun for the ducks

They sure know how to talk with those eyes.
