Supposed to be bantam pullet assortment...

I thought you got them as chicks, maybe from a feed store that didn't know bantams don't come sexed. Unfortunately the person who sold them to you had to know they were male and lied. How long have you had them?

No, the guy said that they were 2-3 month old pullets when I purchased them from him. I got them at the end of July. He did the same thing with a duck my mom got from him. Sold it as a 4month old female mallard (had female coloring) and when it molted, it got its male colors. I really should've researched before I bought them but I was excited to get some pullets since my first (and only) two chickens turned out to both be males (they are Sultans so it took a while to sex). Now I have way too many boys. Ugh, makes me so mad! I figured a local person would be honest!

My first chickens I purchased locally were supposed to be Jersey Giants. They were not, but they were healthy and well cared for so I kept the girls and gave the rooster away. I still have one remaining and she's nearly seven years old!

Did you take pictures when you got them? I have a feeling that they were younger than you were told (they look about 3 months now) and might have been showing early comb development indicating cockerel. I'd be very surprised if this was an honest mistake.

I don't have any great photos of them when I got them. These are from a couple weeks after I got them.

Their body doesn't look like it's changed much but their legs are longer and combs have developed more.

To help in the future that red/gold on their shoulders unless spread out over the whole body or more of the body that that is male specific coloring for sure. The red/gold boy you see how much darker red the shoulders are?

The comb size and color always look at. It helps if you know the breed or mix.

The third boy you pictured in the first set of photos at the top part of his tail you see the shiny black feathers that are beginning to arch those are called sickle feathers and are male specific.

I also see saddle and hackle feathers coming in on all of them also. These are will be pointy and more coarse than the feathers a pullet would have in the same places.

I'm sorry you got stuck with these I highly doubt it was accidental unless there was a larger group and you chose them?

Practice helps a lot. :)

Now you'll need to decide what to do with all of these boys as the hormones kick in they will start to terrorize any possible pullets you have.

That is great information!! Thank you so much! I am going to see if I can give them away.
