Hi!

I ordered the suprise box of chicks from alchemist farm in California. Didn’t get to choose any of the breeds in the box. Was suppose to get 10 and pleasantly surprised with 15 beautiful babies. Would appreciate any help with breed identification and sex. The potential breeds are German bielefelder, heritage well summer, americauna, French black copper maran, isbar, double silver laced barnevelder, their own mixes called azure, alchemist blue, sage, moss, olive, and gentle giant which is suppose to be cross of cross Langshan+ameraucana+moss.

They are 4 weeks old in the photo

I think I have at least 2 roosters

So far my guess are:
- 2 Marans (1 pullet and 1 cockerel?)
- 1 cockerel that might be wellsummer
- 2 azure egged pullets with the fluffy hat hair
- 1 splash and 2 black/blue isbar or alchemist blue
- 2 “gentle giants” with the fluffy cheeks
- 1 gray/black ameraucana
- remaining 4 either olive, Sage, wellsummer

Don’t think I have any barnevelder or moss eggers.

Would appreciate any feedback this community has to offer!

Thank you

I got a mystery box too, from Alchemist this year. Mine are 7 weeks old now. I'm pretty sure I have two azure eggers and two sage eggers. I can only tell who is who when they are all together. Then I can tell two are more silver grey in the neck and chest (azure eggers) and two are more red/brown in the neck chest. All four have hair-dos! But the azure eggers have bigger dos than the sages.

I'd love to know more about and see more pics of Alchemist Ameraucanas and gentle giants. I have one chick with a muff and at 7 weeks her eyes are still dark almost black. DO any other Alchemist breeds have muffs?

My Marans rooster from them is sweet. But he doesn't really have feathered legs.

Edited to add pic of my Alchesmist hens' eggs (azure, sage and welsummer). I did change the colors of the image, to try to get the egg colors to come out more true.

Just saw your post. I think #2 looks a lot like a safe egger Roo. I got a box of chicks last year and two more this year so I’m starting to get to know their breeds.

This is my welsummers roo from last year and he definitely looks more like my sage egger from this year. I’ll get you a picture a little later

If they have a muff and feathered legs it’s a gentle giant, if it’s a muff and clean legs then it’s an ameracauna ❤️

No idea myself - just wanted to say they are gorgeous and I'm so excited for you.
I'm just branching out into some of the less common breeds, so thanks for sharing!
