Surviving Minnesota!

Oh Ralphie. Poor Judy with Chickens at her good dining table.

I have to show off Patsy Cline.
I'm so excited for this bird's first egg ...I can hardly wait. She's a Welsummer and that egg will be as gorgeous as she is. Her face has been red for a couple weeks now. I love her maroon coloring around her face and the contrasting gold hackle feathers. She is also very friendly and was chasing my son in the yard with her overwhelming curiosity yesterday. We call her "Pinhead" lovingly, of course; as her body is much larger than her head.

Here's Pinhead: Or Patsy.

PGed 251 head. I saw a Hereford calf I really like. Will have to convince my uncle!

There were a few open, one of them was 13, she's going to the sales ring most likely. The calves are monsters this year! I can't wait to hear what they average at!!
My grandpas horse is no longer ride able unless it gets surgery though.. He's on the search for a new one. You could tell when the vet told him that he was really sad.. He loves this horse. He's still got Sunny too though. This would be the 2nd horse go lame this year...

BC Beautiful chicken...

Layers Sorry to hear about your Grandpa's horse...

Here are a few pictures of the House Chicken, which Judy is still cackling about. I guess a house chicken violates some sense of decency or something.

This is her in the dining room.

This is her in the kitchen..

And here she is checking out the living room...Judy seemed a tad miffed I gave the chicken the tour of the house. I thought the pullet enjoyed the tour.

Whomever suggested everyone go to Hutch, I think that is a great idea, we could even go to the banquet at 6pm. I sent my entries in. I over did it. I registered 17 birds, but I figure I can leave some home if I do not like what they are doing.

I am not sure if they will accept all the entries, as I entered 4 Cream Legbars. (I may have neglected to tell them 2 would be white sports....

I have the most beautiful white sport pullet, now I have to find the perfect cockerel to go with her.

I also sent in a registration for Blue the Turkey hen. I picked her up yesterday looked her over and decided she was close enough to the SOP to go. Besides after she lost her 4 babies to that dog 2 months ago she has been sad, so she needs a trip to pick up her spirits.

And here comes the Photo Bombs!!

These are a couple of my Silver Spangled Appenzeller Spitzhauben, which I think are the prettiest birds I have:

These are not an APA breed at this time.

Next are my Silver Duckwing Yokohomas They are also not admitted into the APA. I picked these breeds on rareness not on APA. Also they needed a certain FuFu factor. I think they have it.

The tails will grow extremely long on them.

They are all young birds, I think just under 3 months old.

NOW FOR THE CHANCE OF A LIFETIME!!!

You could WIN THIS COCKEREL!!!

All you need to do is write an essay on this thread as to why you want him. The essay must be at least 3 words long. I will notify the winner and they can stop by and pick him up. Notification will be as soon as I see your essay. Beware, even though he is good looking he is a PITA!. He is in a cage by himself for a reason. He has no manners. He cannot be with a pullet or chick. He will pull the back of their heads and try to take advantage of them. He can only be with cockerels big enough h to beat the living tar out of him. If he is with his own size or smaller he is a bully.

When he is with larger birds he sits in the corner and behaves himself most the time. Occasionally he will even take on the bigger birds. BUT he does learn that is futile and stops.

This sweetheart could be yours. Saint Judy thinks we should make Cornish game hen out of him. His future is in your hands. write the essay (remember 3 words or more) or tacitly approve of his becoming dinner.

Ralph, that pullet looked right at home. Shed probably love to take up residence in the spare bedroom! You need to give your show turkey the house tour!

And Patsy Pinhead is gorgeous!!

Why have they gone lame?
