Jerry my dad used to wear those denim ones. You will find them with Carhartt or dickies on the label. Saw them while shopping ... Had flashbacks to Dad shoveling silage to the beef cattle in the winter while wearing one.
I'll take my chances on people laughing at me in Teal Ralphie. . Jerry I knew you'd appreciate the shopping posts.
BC I can almost picture your Dad in one of those behind the legion club stealing a puff so Mom doesn't figure out he is still smoking. BTW I can see my Dad right there with him

Well back in the day he would have been leaning over a pool table at Schultz's Bar with the cig hanging off his lips, PBR on the side of the table, after unloading grain or picking up some, depending on time of year, at the Elevator (Feed and Seed...whatever you want to call it) conveniently located across the street. LOL. you have him pegged Ralphie.

Okay - opinion time. I went to Bed & Bath Works this last Saturday while waiting to go do my grandma time. I bought two fragrance dispensers along with about 12 fragrances. One dispenser works, one does not. That is a 50% failure rate. So I drove from Big Lake to Albertville- a little over 13 miles so not a long ways - to return the dysfunctional fragrance dispenser. Today I exchanged the non-working one and purchased one more. I got home and one works and the other does not. Still at a 50% failure rate. Now I will return once more to exchange the fragrance dispenser.
Here is what I am thinking - that they need to make me happy. I am not happy. Time to travel to and fro. Petro to travel to and fro. An even exchange will not make me happy. What do you think? I am calling their corporate office tomorrow to tell my sad, sad story
and find out how bad they want to keep a customer.
My jacket already shipped today BC. That was FAST!

Ivie: I would powder and dust corners with the nylon Sevin sock after you've vaccuumed, laid down paint, let it dry and then put the shavings back in. Then really go to town on your nooks and crannies. And do your weekly dustings once a week for 2-3 weeks. Neem oil on those roosts. As I type I've got my wheels working for some work and cleaning down at the coop. Even if it's in preventive measure.
Ahhhh. I put on DH's carhartt this morning. It's like your favorite quilt being wrapped around you the. sleeves are soft and frayed. It's flexible and worn perfectly. I will buy a new stiff one I guess. I should get the bibs too. Those are nice on the -20 or so days. Thanks all for input. Carhartt it is. I see a style I like.
Dark Teal or Classic Carhartt brown? Ladies? ( Ed and Jerry are probably losing their minds right now....LOL.)
I went out to feed them this morning, and noticed she was looking unhappy... ruffled feathers, didn't want to eat. I picked her up to check for the obvious, eyes didn't look sick, she didn't feel thin, had food in her crop, checked for lice or mites and she looked clean. I set her down and went out for more feed while figuring out what to do with her. I came back in, and she was seizing, (might have just been dying shakes, I don't know.) I walked up to her and watched the life leave her eyes. It was so weird! I'm wondering if she had something stuck in her throat or something, and when I flipped her on her back to check for mites it made it stick? She did seem to be gasping when she was seizing, but she went so quickly I didn't even have time to react. She had a bit of fight left in her when I was checking her out, so she wasn't that close to death if she was just sick. I can't figure out what else it could be? I have never seen a chicken die so quickly before.
I can't bring myself to cut her open to find out, but I did feel her throat and didn't feel anything obvious.
I'm not sure what happened, I do know that their crop should be empty in the morning. I check mine every night and morning. Should be full at night and empty in the morning. If they are not empty in the morning I massage them a little to get things moving. I wonder if she had an impacted crop, may have had it a while if you don't check daily.
Quote: DH and I did ours out the the coop from the box in the garage (that my DH also did) from the box in the basement. I agree, save your money whenever possible when you can do it yourself. If you don't want to do the wiring part, ask him how much off if you dig the trench.
