Surviving Minnesota!

BRRRR - - - seriously, not teasing. I have on a T-shirt, a sweater, a sweatshirt jacket and was covering with a throw pillow while sitting outside reading. 61 degrees. 42 this morning. When I left MN it was warmer than that. I realize that it will be a different story when I return and am prepared emotionally for the difference a week makes

Ralphie - I just may have to design wool stocking coverings for the Roo's combs. Maybe a 'scarf' for their wattles but not til after thanksgiving. IF I do I will get a very quick picture and post it.

Ralphie I am gonna be separating birds pretty soon for breeding. I talked my mom into letting me make a big brooder in the laundry room! :yesss:

@Minniechickmama when is the soonest eggs can start hatching? January 1st??

Good going Holm!!! Did you talk into buying you a new 1502 incubator and hatcher too? Or are you salesmen skills fading?

I tried a "stocking cap " on one of my roosters today. I call this "stocking cap version 1.0

It has some bugs and as of now is a failure...

Then I redesigned it slightly, this is version 1.1

There are some bugs in this version too. however, the first time I built a time machine did not work out either...So I will just keep trying.

They really are 2 versions the differences are subtle and you may not notice them right away. But the trained eye can pick them right out.

There's someone selling an incubator that fits 54ish eggs for sale in Minnesota

I have had a work out today. I walked into a barn with horses that has not had a plow road set yet. 18 inches of snow is a lot of snow to walk a good 100 yards or more to. DD and I are horse sitting again. Then chicken chores on top.

The newbies are getting used to the new space. I hope so. They will be in here as long as 5 months. Please let there be an early spring for them. Watching juniors interactions. He's a growler. He does not 'tidbit' the hens. Lol. I have yet to see him chase down and mate the girls in the run either. This bird will not be giving my hens bare backs i can see that. Thank goodness.

Going to make a pork, butternut squash stew. It's super good. DH loves it and it's pretty good for you too.

Ralph....saw Chicken People at the Memphis Indie Film Festival a few months ago. Should have bought their "Real Men Love Chickens " bumper sticker for you. By the way, Chicken People has a Facebook page and the trailer for the film is pretty entertaining. I got too busy at work to go to the Ohio National this year....but thats where most of the film was filmed.

Hmm I remember a little ditty while looking at this . I will modify it to fit the situation He put a sock upon his comb and frostbite was prevented !

Ralphie I talked her into an incubator like yours along time ago lol! I just need to find one! With how we are redoing our house I will have a room to make into a hatching room and then when we get our new garage I could have a room in there. Lol

My sister was going to knit hats for some birds but hasn't yet lol! I will let you know how that works!
