Surviving Minnesota!

We finished in June 2015.
But if you ask most people who built there own houses they'll tell you the same thing we will. It'll never be done

we still have to put trim on. My grandparents who redo houses all over SD have a garage loft that they converted to a 2 bed 2 bath for themselves and they've lived in it for at least 6 years and still have one piece of trim not on

I agree it's never done.
We still have trim to put on and need tile in the master bathroom. DH is a tile setter. He chose the tile for the other rooms so I think I should be able to pick what goes into the master bathroom. He doesn't agree with what I want so it's sitting unfinished.. I want limestone. I would also like the basement finished but I can see that will never happen.

Open space in right corner is office, to the right of that is a bedroom rest is living room

Bedroom in front through door. Living room everywhere else

Kitchen and living room room
You see a kind of hallway not really down the left side of the house. A few feet towards the door from where that separating wall starts is this

Full bath

Half bath. Behind that curtain is shelves.

Washer, dryer, and sink so you can wash your hands right away when you come in.

Parent shower. My mom's step mom made it. I helped on the floor and halfway up the wall.

Here's the outside from one side

So basically my parents room to the right of the kitchen is connected to their bathroom.

My plan also calls for a wall of windows like that on the south side with the vaulted ceiling. Nice looking place you've got

Thank you
Those windows were a pain especially the high ones. We now wished that for the bottom, the 2 windows on either side of the door were one instead, you learn as you go though

Eek all this remodel talk is making me relive the memories of last winter....Complete gutting of my kitchen and remodel. Of course being a construction workers daughter means that dad will help when his time permits. It was a huge cost saver to only have to sub out the cabinetry but being without a kitchen for 4 months was not ideal. In the end it is all worth it!

I am so glad my dads first cousin came out and helped all the time and my mom dad and step mom did too! It helped a lot
My mom was so angry at my dad, he didn't put the stove in until Thanksgiving 2015

. We were using a toaster oven.

Nice place layers.

MNchickmom, I think we need photos of the remodel.

@lvie, I see there is a flood warning for folks on the Elk River above Orano lake due to an ice dam, are you being affected by that at all? I hope you are on high enough ground to be safe!

I took a road trip out to Cokato today to spend time with my oldest living aunt on my dads side. I have begun to scan in photos from her albums. It is a big project that will take months, if not years. We got 2 albums scanned in today. I had bought this scanner just for this project 3 years ago, then my sister said no, that she was going to do it. Well, she hasn't gotten to it, so I've waited long enough I think. My aunt is getting up there in age and recently moved out of her home to an apartment community, I don't want the opportunity to be lost. It was great spending time with her. I look forward to more days as the opportunity arises. Her eye sight is going though so it is hard for her to see and tell me who was in some of the phitos, so that is hard. 3 years ago it would have been easier for her.
After that I had supper with my dad at the Howard Lake Legion, good seeing him as well. Nite all!

We are heading to SD today. Everyone except my dad. I wasn't going to go but decided to just because I want to go to the Sky Zone. Hopefully I will get my new phone today so I can watch my chickens while we are there also. The roads here are supposed to be icy still, and have drifts..
