Surviving Minnesota!

I hope Mr. T is a super breeder!

Busy times on the farm! How many calves so far? Do you guys artificially inseminate?

He bred all his hens yesterday so I am hoping for eggs soon!

I think 9 calves? Nope all are bull bred. We bought a "fancy" bull last spring and used him and are getting a better one this spring. Then we can keep some of these heifers :D

I think we better wait before anyone thinks of a wedding

Hey Holm - Vet is pppppeeeerrrrrfect for you! A journey of a 1,000 miles begins with one step. It will be worth it when you are 30 and doing what it is you love. No one can ever take your education away from you and that is a truth in life.

You alls seem to be foolin around today. More posts just today than in the last week - I am just saying that . . . . it may not be true. Seems like it.

Moved the new shinny Copper roo into the big coop last night with the largest amount of hens. I think there are 13 in that coop. He seems pretty content.

Then I put Reggie in the smaller coop and put three of the two year olds with him for company. They seem pretty happy to be away from spunky Copper. There is not alot of chatter between all the birds. They are a pretty quiet bunch.

Ruby, the naked since last November RIR, is feathering in nicely. She and Regina, the CLB are their own flock and hang pretty close together. I have that new little coop (So cute! So small) as a hospital coop and they are in the garage in that coop (I have to finish staining it). No more chicken doo all over my garage. Yea!

I am having a contest!

I have released my ornery ugly mean rotten nasty Pollack rooster. He was released after I explained to him, I do not need him anymore. I do not like him and if he attacks me he will die...

The contest is, "How will he die"

These are the top choices others are welcome.

1) I will kill him by ripping his head off after he attacks me
2) I will rip his head off after he attacks someone else.
3) the other roosters will kill him because he is such a jerk
4) a hawk or eagle will take him to munch on him.
5) the dogs will rip his head off after he attacks one of them

Thanks for playing the game,,

And a reminder I have sweet luvable polish chicks for sale...

Holm, I figure if we start planning now we can probably get some pretty good deals on beer and whiskey for us, orange juice for you, and the eternal gift of fertile hatching eggs

So, I'm sitting her in my jammies and someone knocks at the door. Whatever, I'll see who it is. I don't need to smell pretty to answer the door, right? It's my neighbor's grandson (who is my age - 30 something). He came by to let me know his dog ate one of my chickens.....the leghorn I lost the other day. He said the dog came back for more and almost got another one, but he got to it in time. I now know this is the same dog that was chasing down our peacocks one day. Anyways, he offered me $20 for it. And guess what, I didn't take it. I was upset about losing the chicken, but figured it was the hawk family. I thought it was great he even came by to say "hey, this happened.....let me make it up to you." Then, he offered up his concrete services! He obviously didn't like my crappy blacktop. Moral of the story is, I'm glad he was honest and swung by to let me know and make it right. A lot of folks aren't like that anymore.

That was nice of him to let you know!

Ralphie, I choose option number1. He is not too smart and half blind I think ? I mean the rooster, not you.

Holms, the cattle look good. I know that black brings a premium at sale, but I am not fond of black. This from someone that once raised purebred Black Angus.

The advantage of being a Veterinarian vs MD. Patients do not say stupid things and do not initiate lawsuits.

Twins are on at 3:00 I think. It will them be time for mental anguish if things are similar to last season ?

The disadvantage of Vet over MD is the school is harder and the pay is worse... but the patients of Vets are way nicer..

Maybe if I sneak the Pollack rooster in the cage when I bring you the PC rooster, you won't notice......
