Surviving Minnesota!

They look ok to me . If no wooly stuff inside they are good . I have never found a false morel . Hmmm bet your professional picks and sells a lot of them . What better way to keep others from picking them than to spread misinformation .

The stalks were not hollow. They had stuff on the inside of the stalks.

They dont sell any Mushrooms. Just dehydrate them for themselves. And these are all on my Grandpas property so they couldnt get them anyways

Well then they are false . Never found any of those .

Morning . Sun is trying to peek thru the clouds . Windy , soggy , wet , muddy . Need some warm sunshine to get me going . Yesterday the gloomy days finally got to me .

Well I hope those gloomy days are done for a while now Jerryse. YOU need sunshine and it makes you happy. Happy chickeners are the best. Hope today is better.

I would still like a picture of them cut in half if possible, just to see. I have never seen a false look so much like a good one. Thanks

Next time you see one of them, just cut the stem and shroom in half lengthwise.. if it is hollow it is good. (or run back to that one)

We only have yellows down here or we thought until I found those blacks the other day..I am sure other knew about them...but people are not real willing to share the spots and what they get.

Another thing you will notice with that false morel holm is that the cap is not fused to the stalk. It's fused up higher into the cap. They are like their own seperate parts to the mushroom. with a morel the cap is like a convuluted part of the stem still, fused right on.

FALSE MOREL

I will say your False morel would have made me take a second look! The False ones we've had around here have looked alot like this Rusty Topped one on the Right hand side of the picture. I think up here we have both types of morels too. Those last ones I found were regular. Not black. But I think we are out hunting alot more during the early black season around here. Those common morels come a little later when grass is higher and leaves are covering more. I want to say...not entirely sure though.

Good Afternoon Chickeners . . . .

Well, Tom Hanks new owner (since last August) stopped by yesterday and asked if I want him back. Nope. He hates my DH. That means that there are two choices for this guy - his 13 RIR are bare backed and he does not like it and thinks Tom is over ambitious. I think it may be a little strange that suddenly, now that it is spring, his hens are bare backed but were not before the first of the year. They were still with Tom. So I suggested that 1) it is because it is Spring and if he likes him he may want to wait til this season is over with or 2) cull him now. This guy does not free-range his birds because nothing would get at any flock with Tom around. But then a person might be a fraid to venture out of their back door with Tom around. Nope -

he is yours now. I had warned him before I gave him Tom so not feeling too bad now.

Okay - I now write as a service to you chickener friends. While looking at a credit card statement this a.m. I came across a Amazon Prime renewal of $99.
ep.gif
Whattttt? I have never used Amazon Prime. I was able to get onto an account and there were two things, one of which was the NuStock, that I had purchased. Eventually I found a customer service telephone number to call, which I promptly did to find out info about when I signed up for Amazon Prime.

Of course when you purchase an item they need your name, address and e-mail address to confirm the order and ship it to you. This guy asked for my date of birth. Hmmm anyone else looking quizzical right now? Then he told me that someone in the UK had used my name to open an AP account and if he could just have access to my computer to find out who that would have been he would be able to resolve this issue. YIKES! Be careful out there! Of course I got off the phone and called my credit card company and filed a dispute.

But what a way to do a new scam! Who thinks up these things? I am sure someone is giving them the information they need to hack their computer. I repeat - be careful!
