Looks like maybe 7 cockerels.... Who knows...

Buckeyes are great layers. One of mine lays every day and the rest lay 5 a week. I find that really good considering they weigh 8 pounds per hen. And on top of that they have the best temperaments !

Okay. I'm Baa-ack.

Kids wanted queen sized mattresses and a new bed frame for the daughter. So I moved the big heavy log beds and big heavy queen waterbed frame out that we moved in 12 years ago. Let it be known that my body did not appreciate moving that furniture 12 years ago. And it did not appreciate it this time either. Maybe even less.

My Envoy has electrical gremlins so after several non start mornings. And before DH took off for Red Lake tonight I got another car. I so dislike car shopping. It stresses me out. But we went with a chevy cruze. I don't have space to haul straw bales or kennels of chickens any more. but I get 40mpg and being a chauffeur that's friggin' awesome. LOL.

So while I've been unplugged from BYC and typed 10 posts at BYHERDS...it's been a marathon at home. I want to sleep.

I'm glad to be back chicken people. Glad to be home. I've slipped the sweats on and have on the slipplers and am home. I should go make a big ginger.

Greetings from the prairie! I just stumbled across this thread and hope you have room for one more fellow Minnesotan.

Oh My Gosh! Yes! Welcome @bobbi-j ! Folks we have another good knowledgable one in our midst. So glad you are here.

Congrats on the little cuddlers BC. Did you leave any with Jerry? Gotta get those plants to him yet.
Jerry threw in two 'packing peanuts' in my order with him. But he had quite a few I left him with. Ivie you will have some nice choices there. After a good week and 1/2 with the chicks already. It looks like the 4 lavs are hens and i have one black hen, and 2 cockerels (a blue and black) 2 lavs go to my teacher friend. 1 lav hen I'll start for my sister and she'll integrate her to her city flock of 3 hens. I'll keep a black and lav pullet. They are gorgeous.

Teacher Friend, Shannon's Silkie,Thunderclap hatched 2 out of 4 of the Wellie eggs. Just hatched this early morning. Probable pullet and cockerel.Gorgeous Mink colored chicks. Big and healthy. I really really like this breed.

The Classroom hatch yielded 18 chicks. So we've got chicken math going on big time between the two of us. I'm adding personally to my flock a NH pullet, Wellie Pullet and black and lav ameraucana pullet.

Well those Silkies were not photogenic in the wind today... they look so much nice is person... Will have to wait for a nice sunny day to try get better pics...

BTW they are still covered in pin feathers. Especially in their crest and tails. So they have a lot of filling in to do.

These are incredibly beautiful birds. Wow. Love the coloring. (Dark heads-partridgey body)

Morning all.

I am going to spend the day getting ready for Monday's inspection, again.

I am thinking Bert will be gone when I let the birds out. He was a tough old bird for a Toad. I will have to pick a new Bert today. I might skip a generation as I am not sure any of his kids qualify.

I am making a quick trip to Monticello to Visit Runnings and Walmart then it is out to the barn.

Good Morning Chickeners. . . .

Saw Jerry yesterday - left the birds with him - did not even look. I need to get on-track about my flock. Have plans.

Gotta 'get to it' Hope everyone is doing well.
