Certainly you could be right about Sasquatch in Bena as it is also rumored that Al Capone hid in some houses up there in his glory days.
or maybe it was in the Big Fish. I don't know for sure.


Every little burg in Northern Minnesota lays claims to having AL Capone having a cabin or hideout there....



The only thing I've ever ran into is kids hiding in the bushes throwing rocks at my car. Little Bass turds. That is what Bena is famous for for me. LOL.
For me, Bena is famous for being a place with 7 unlicensed pieces of junk in the parking lot of the gas station/laundry/bar/café,,,and in a former life if I went in the front door the back door was swinging and the place was vacant.. rumor has it there were 3 valid driver licenses in the entire Bena area....

Ivie: you are way smarter than me. Marrying a younger man. I should have thought ahead on that one...as I was the one that had to piece together that coop. dang it all. The older they get the more they go down the dumper. That's for sure.

I am actually looking for the younger wife now, I am thinking I deserve a newer model. Judy of course agrees with me....

I have been the SIL of the wicked witch of the south for 42 years, Cinco De mayo it will be 43... BTW when we got married no one on Minnesota had heard of that cinco de mayo stuff.


I have pit up with her POOP for 42 years,, her with my POUP for the same.. Of course the years have seemed a lot longer and been a lot harder on me than her.







BTW Ivie how long has your family been in the area? I am the 5th generation in Orrock Township. I was wondering if you are one of those new families that moved in on us......


Oh and if you go to Svea Hill Cemetery you can visit with my Great great Grandpa.

Way cool about five generations. I love family history! My now DH moved into this house in 1994 while there were still 350 beef cattle across the street on the Mitchell Farm. So he was here when the population was about 3,200. It was quiet, serene and the high way had just a little traffic. People would wave (because that it what they used to do) when driving down the highway. Or stop by to say hi. I move in with him in 1996 and we were married in 1997. Second time around for both of us. My first time was 22 years. Poor guy - he made it 22 years with ME. So it will be 19 years this year for this time. We are still very good friends. LOL. DH parents and DS and her DH were here a couple years earlier. So we are right in-between the NEW BL and the OLD BL.

I can't believe those Legbars... U give them a great place to live and they hardly pay rent(eggs) and then they do this... They are just taking advantage of a poor man whos wife already is a bully too him... Its sad... Really sad... Lol no I have talked to Judy before and she seems nice. Or it was your mom... 1. Rhetts, you need to get a Moocall Calving Sensor or two. Then you can be alerted within an hour of when your cows will calve.

2. Ralphie, you have me beat on the generations in residence thing. I am only a fourth generation resident of NE Minnesota. My ancestors were among the pioneers to settle Carlton County. One fact of note is that my Great Grandfather was killed and partially eaten by a bear.

3. Bogtown, is your thinking related to a younger male husband/companion due to concern that as the current model ages he may be unable to keep up some of his husbandly duties?
