Surviving Minnesota!

I have an Egg report today!

I got a Toad egg from the outside toads today. A nice non-frozen toad egg....

However, the egg did not make it to the house in one piece....

The bad news it broke in my pocket..

The good news is...I was not wearing a suit.
I got 8 eggs today... mostly unfrozen too!

NO, no, no....Ralphie is correct. A lap Turkey, or five, is what Stringbean needs & doesn't know it yet.....

I heard they were kind of idiots...but we did discuss turkeys for next season. Already starting to raise pigs and chickens for the first time...and haven’t even finished rebuilding the pig pen. :gig

I think I'd have to agree. I do know people raise Emu's though, and they are also Australian. I guess I don't know if that's ever in MN though?

I have my Muscovies and really, really enjoy them. They are friendly without being obnoxious. They get big enough to eat, can hatch their own, and lay a fair number of eggs. The fact they aren't as gross with their water is also something I love about them. My Buff's always tried to dig to China in the mud they made from the dishes, the scovies hardly ever do that unless a big ole puddle opens up from a bunch of rain or something.
I've heard that there's a guy down in southern Minnesota that has 4 of the 5 kinds of Ratites. Everything but a Kiwi. His first name is Christian I believe. I don't recall his last name.

No restrictions in Fredenberg as it is part of the boondocks.
The marauding dogs could definitely be a problem. Best to have your animals securely fenced or a gun at the ready.

Ralphie, did you mention this damaged egg to Judy, or is it just between us here?

There is no need for her to know things that do not concern her.....

We dropped 22 degrees in 5 minutes today according to the weatherman . 3 + inches of rain last 2 days . Freezing rain , sleet and snow tonight . :barnie A real slippery few days ahead .

Dad got a beaver today while moving snow.
3 feet long in total, 10 inch tail

We may or may not have put it on a neighbors mail box:lau

Your poor neighbour!
This isn't the worst. A few years back my dad found a hairless skunk floating in a tank so it was all he could do to take a shovel and scoop it up and put it on the tailgate. Drives over to the same neighbors and puts it in front of their cattleguard into their yard. He then wrapped its paws around some empty adult beverages, he tried to stick an cigarette in its mouth but couldn't take the smell.
A month ago we took a coyote over to a different neighbor and stuck it in his bale stack, not sure if he ever noticed or if it went through his bale procesor.
Another time a couple of years ago we found some pink yard flamingos so my dad hid about 25 of them around another neighbors yard. He hid some in the ditch with their heads peaking. To this day everyone still thinks it was Larry and not my dad:lau

Some other things that we didn't do was during pheasant season someone was headed to a military base for training and someone stuck a pheasant under his back seat. As he was going through I think Iowa he called home saying it really stinks in this state. He evuntally found out about the pheasant.
There are some pretty funny frozen dead cat ones. Speaking of frozen and dead, I have a chicken that is mow a chicken-sicle so we might have to take it to a neighbors
There are a lot of pranksters here, I wish I could remember all of the really funny ones
