Surviving Minnesota!

They say it is saliva to saliva transfer and people that feed out of containers or troughs and don't broadcast the feed helps with the spread of the disease.

We need to stop deer from kissing or if they insist on kissing they need to learn to use protection..

BC....your Barnvelder looks good! I really like mine. I have one of those Grandpa feeders. Have had it for years. Works great. It comes with instructions on how to train your birds. It went well and they figured it out quickly. Nothing gets into the feeder but the chickens. Agreed, not cheap, but I feel it's worth it....at least in my situation.

Memphis for the coop and the mice and red squirrels and chipmunks I think I’m going to get it. It is going to take a lot of feed loss to make up the difference but I intend to keep chickening for a while and if I can help contain the mess of vermin droppings (potential disease) and save some feed cost then I think i’ll Do it.

I’m tempted to try and make one too. I think I printed off some plans somewhere. Shared them with Jerry at one point I think too. But maybe I’ll buy and then try building to get all my locations covered.

I see Walmart has a $50- $70 treadle feeder. The grandpa’s looks better...

Morning . More rain coming . On the deer I planted clover at the lake 2 or so years . The deer come around for some clover . Nice to see them once in awhile . Here I also planted some clover . I have some cameras out to see what is here .

I put up 7 ft tall electric fences to keep the deer away. I dislike deer nearly as bad as I dislike dux...

I might be becoming a grumpy old man.
I like deer in their proper place, out in the wild. I have a strong dislike for deer among my trees and garden.

I don’t have to plant clover. And we do get lots of deer... now and then elk, too. Sometimes more than I can count. I never even thought of feeding them and no one else lives anywhere near. Guess what? They still cross the road. They hide behind the undergrowth and listen for cars. They space themselves out so that just when you think it’s safe to proceed, another one takes off across the road, making a shot for that big green meadow in the sky. They must have some weird religion that drives them mad...

And we forgot to apply for our deer/elk tags again this year and I need better dog food. Our poor aging lab/Golden is so itchy he tears holes in the base of his ears. Benadryl and fish oil don’t seem to help. Deer would have been perfect. DH won’t eat it and if I’m honest, I really don’t care for the taste but I’ll bet the doggies would be through the moon. (They’re so cute.) Oh well... I’ll figure it out.

It is snowing.

At least antelope will run alongside your vehicle before making a mad dash across the road in front of you.
