Surviving Minnesota!

So Pearl...

She is a puzzle. I tried a little water flush and vomiting yesterday. Just a few drips back out. I think alot of that water went through honestly.
I have her on mineral oil. They use it for choke in horses so I'm going to see if she clears it. I also need to worm her too and make sure she doesn't have a mass of those pests in her digestive tract. I have her on mineral oil, scrambled eggs and yogurt to be low sugar and compete out yeast. IDK... I feel like I'm throwing the book at her and she's still slow. I'm thinking the mineral oil might be our ticket if she's slow. I was looking at photos and videos of her chooking in the yard and she has a larger crop in all of those videos. Now this is going on 3-4 month old videos. Maybe I over reacted with her and should just let her be Big Crop Pearl? After the weekend of these isolation cage and restricted food choice and mineral oil if she's still chipper and got fight I'll just put her in with the general population and chock it up to old Pearl with a Silly Crop. IDK...

Princess has foamy eyes again, she had it two years ago in January and it was frozen. I didn’t do anything about it -that I can remember and it cleared up on it’s own. Her eyes have been foamy off and on now for about a week or so. None of the others have an eye problem. She isn’t sneezing or acting sick. She must be at least 4 years old now. Hasn’t laid for a few weeks.

Princess is special so laying and laying an egg is far below her station in life.

I need to run to town today. I needed a couple eggs and have none.... I checked all the nests. No eggs.

I bought $300 of feed on Monday and I have to buy eggs on Friday... something is wrong.

My chickens are still giving mr around three eggs a day. If I didn’t have so many eggs backed up in the fridge I’d put a timed light in with them, but... eh... I would only have to give the eggs away anyhow. Let ‘me have a break.

At what age do turkeys generally start laying? Mine are around seven months.

Turkeys are seasonal layers. They typically start laying in the spring following the year they were hatched. If eggs are collected constantly they can lay into the fall before stopping for the winter. If allowed to set, hatch, brood and raise a clutch, they may only lay long enough to set the size clutch to get them broody and can be done laying until the next season.
