Surviving Minnesota!

Oh no MCM . There is a niceness about privacy for chicken undie runs.

Pearl has always been a drama queen. She is highly likely to sqwak over the smallest intervention. The crop bra has a size or engineering problem because it was over a wing and out a leg and off when she ran through my kitchen and living room this morning. Her bra came off faster than if she were a prom date. So I did an oil massage this am and isolated her with water, 6 raspberries and minuscule amount of crumbles.
Her crop was still fullish. But normal full. So it wasn’t ginormous. It’s a slow crop I would say. I will do oil again and give her scrambled eggs. Water.
She pooped normal in my house last night. This AM she pooped a watery bright green. She might be getting more side problems. Will watch her.

Green poop can be bile from a lack of food..... some foods do it too

Yah I would say it is a Bile like poop. I’m hoping some of her food got through now. Poor thing.
I have always worried about this particular issue.
As always I will put her down if suffering or an issue.
But I got Kitty turned around with her bloat and flystrike....
won’t give up the ship while she’s still perky

So you know when you change your routine in the morning with the chickens sometimes you screw up stuff. Tonight I raced home as it was dark and I knew Pearl was in isolation cage in the run. So she wouldn’t eat-over eat. I thought boy she’s going to be dramatically mad prom queen.
I open the run to find she was accompanied by the whole flock shut out from the coop and their food. So not only did Pearl go without food... so did the whole lot as the feeder is in the coop. I had shut down the pop door after the others were out to isolate her and never opened again.

Pearl had 10 others joining in her fast. Roosting on her cage and straw bales next to her for the night. So because it was dark.. I hand carried 10 birds back and forth from run to coop.

FYI Her crop is still loaded with food....:(

:( sorry to hear that last part.

Interesting factoid!!

The LED lightbulb first hi the commercial market in 1944!!
I figured this out..
I just changed LED bulbs in the living room for the third time. Each bulb has a 25 year life span according to the box.
So 1944 was when they hit the market... and I must have skipped a few birthdays cause I didn’t think I was that old.

I did not, I will search for it.

Was this worse than the Halloween Storm. That was worst I ever saw. I Had purchased HI-Lo acres and was living there at the time. We had just bought the motel at 210 and 35 and were stuck between the two places.

I feed my cattle and sheep and gave them enough to last a week, before work.

I could not get out to the highway, the county was not plowing roads, so the state sent a snow plow down to get me out when I tried to Tell them there was no way I could get to the highway..

Judy and the kids followed me out and spent the next few days at the motel.

We had 12-15 ft drifts across the county road.

My daughter sent pictures from her place on the east end of town. The road was unrecognizable.

The trees were a tad heavy with snowView attachment 1972919

Snow total was not as great as the Halloween blizzard, but the drifting here was much worse. Deer hunting after that Halloween storm was a nightmare. Snow more than knee deep everywhere and the deer were holed up.
