Surviving Minnesota!

Ralphie your guardian angle must have a headache trying to protect you . Windy and light rain here . We did not get much rain yesterday but it got really windy . 45 MPH gusts . So I have a ladder stand on a ridge . No shelter and no heat . So I do not hunt windy days . Deer do not like ridges on windy days in my experience . Doesn't matter I won't be there . The deer be like there he was gone . :D

Jerry, my stand is on the cusp of a little ridge but the swamp is fairly protected. Plus there are a lot of willows for the deer to move between out of the wind.

From my stand I and see the bottom of the ridge on the other side the swamp, about 150 yards away. The tamarack make spilts right here so they only have 100-150 yards of brushy tall grass and willows to sneak between bedding areas.

The back side of the stand over looks my pasture and pines. But in the wind this year there is no reason to look that way. They won’t move through there now.

My heater can’t even keep up in the wind, it’s cold in here today, and as a special bonus it feels like the stand wants to blow over. I have it anchored and strapped down so I should be ok.

unless this tank catches fire. I am back in my stand today.

We picked up our turkoktopuss for thanksgiving today!!

So yummy
