Vagrant hen showed up with 7 chicks this afternoon. This is what happens when one allows them to free range. I have seen the hen off and on in the early morning hours but never followed her, and she survived the elements and varmints to hatch a brood.

82 today . Last hot day . Cold front coming and rain .

I should.... I have my squash and watermelon seedlings started. I’m thinking of just doing container gardens this year. I don’t feel like hand clearing a vegetable garden
Since I’ll be digging a duck pond I can just use that dirt for the containers.

Yes, usually Memorial Day weekend. I put my tomatoes in last week because it was warm weather as far as the dorks could forecast, knowing we would most likely have cold weather again... but some of my toms were getting very leggy. So I will need to cover them tonight.
Cold today, mid 40's with a freeze warning for tonight.

I am not sure if I will plant the garden or just do a couple of containers. The weather has been so bi-polar this spring I am not sure of much.

I also have a lot of things I want to do and gardening would take away from them.

Well at least plant the squash - pumpkins . Let em take care of themselves .

And I have a fair size potato patch. If they ever come up. They may have rotted in the ground.

I have a plot almost ready for sun flowers and another for rye.

I will plant Rutabaga in July
