The wooden handle of mine is bowed from putting pressure on it in situations like that. Does better in short grass and spread out nuts. If the nuts are touching it doesn't pick them up too well. Can stab themHave you tried this kind?
It looks like it would work well with clean, dry, hard, small nuts on a short mowed lawn.
