Surviving Minnesota!

What is this rain everyone speaks of?
I was thinking you were on the wrong side of the Mississippi, but then realized we are on the same side of the river.

I think you’re on the wrong side of St Francis river. We never get a nice soaker rain, but we get more than enough downpours with hail and wind on this side of the St Francis.

Haven’t seen many monarchs here this year, heard they are on the endangered list 🙁
I had a milkweed come up next to the front steps. I left it and nothing last year, but this year it bloomed and I had a few caterpillars. Saturday, before the rain, there was one left. Today I don't see it. It was pretty big, so I hope it went and made a cocoon.

If you let that milkweed go to seed it will spread everywhere and you will not be able to get rid of. It is severely invasive.

Used to have tons of them, anymore I have been mowing around them. Not sure what changed that they aren't doing well. That's why I left this one in an inappropriate place. Only has 6 pods that are developing. I am planning on picking them before they pop. Local people look for them for the monarchs.
Thistles are still a problem though lol

We have a lot of milkweed, it does spread but that's ok here.
