Surviving Minnesota!

Oooh little fuzzy wuzzy cottontails. Yum... I like eating rabbit... They rthe easiest thing to clean in the world! I was planning on raisimg some over the summer but never did. I should get them and the can live in a hutch in our backyard and eat all the clover that grows back there. The only way I would raise them is on straight grass and other things to forage. I hate feeding animals grain but its hard not to with layers. I managed to raise turleys on nothing but forage and the tiny bit tgey stole from the cows who dont need grain either...

This is my OEGB rooster, he is a excellent flier.

I suppose most are like this.  It's been a number of years since I've thought of calves robbing.  So we must have had some Mommas that would allow such a thing.  Must be few and far between though..right?

Ralphie I am sorry about all your snow.  It is a PITA sometimes.  Right now I'm doing the ice shuffle to my parking spot and back again.  I do not like dealing with icy roads, parking lots.  I don't bounce like I once did.

Sadie is a cat.

Not only just she leap and bound with the greatest of ease from towering heights and off of us...but she has taken upon herself to rid the run of rodents.  Monday night she helped me put chickens to bed and came out of the run nipping and pawing at a vole in the snow.  I did a quick step to put it out of its misery while she tormented it.

She spent some time with it that night and I figured it became evening snack.

Tuesday morning it's frozen tiny carcass laid on the snow path going down the coop.  She picked up her vole-cicle and played with it again outside.  Last night my son said from down stairs, "Mom.  Sadie brought in her mouse. it's laying on the stairs"  Oh Lord.  She is something else. Despite her weird cat like tendencies I see her potential as a dog.  She had some obnoxiousness though last week. Bought her new toys in Brainerd.  One was $5.  One was $10.  They are now both completely shredded and destroyed in the garbage.   About the only thing we can get her with out complete paper like shredding possibilities is hard Soup Beef Bones.  Raw Hides are gone in 5 minutes.  Even great big huge ones. devoured in one night's setting.  those are $10 bones. So I need to get the soup bones for this Tyrant.

DS also reported an incident of chicken bowling while I did my Brainerd Run.

That's all I've got so far.  Not much.

Ice Bocce this weekend.
Omgosh I love watching chicken bowling ... But now that my SLW was eaten by a hawk not sure if I will see it again for awhile..

Nathan that was a great video.

I wish I could get one of the turkeys flying like that. People are so shocked to find out domestic turkeys fly.

That as an excellent catch on the cam! Then slow motion like that was good editing!! I am so impressed!

Thank you! The editing is pretty easy actually with a good camera. To be honest I had never thought about domestic turkeys flying. I suppose white midgets can fly, but can Broad breasted turkeys?

Awesome video nathan!!!

Very nice...
Thank you both!
