Violetsfeathers, welcome back to Minnesota. Where did you live in Iowa? As I am sure you are aware, the native Iowans say if they gave their Northern tier of counties to Minnesota and their Southern tier of counties to Missouri the average IQ in all three states would be higher.

Jerry, are the White Ameraucana chicks LF or bantam? With all of your projects, you must have a lot of birds and a feed bill to go with it?

Large Fowl . Yes the feed bill is high . Not as many birds as you might think but don't ask for a number cuz IDK 50 ish not counting chicks .

I have set eggs, again.

I did a Holm and did a quick candle on my turkey eggs. I did not know if they would be fertile or not when I set them. There is no noticeable development in any of them. SO I held my turkey eggs back.

I have 42 turkey eggs to eat if the ones in the incubator do nothing. They have only been in the incubator for 8 days. It takes 12-14 days to see anything in them. I will check next Monday and decide what to do with these eggs. The oldest are only a week old today, so another week is not going to affect them much for eating. For hatching a few will be at the outside edge.

I placed 85 eggs in tonight. (Mar 30th Hatch).

32 -- Creamettes
12 -- BA
4 -- BA/Black EE. The eggs are very dark brown almost Maran dark but small. Weird EE eggs.
11 -- PC/EE
7-- PC
2-- SS
1- Guinea maybe or otherwise a malformed Whooops.
11-- toad eggs, Still waiting for first toad.
5-- EE These are with the Blue Egg roosters Sven and Chauncey.

MY feed bill is high enough Judy mentions it some.... But she can work overtime if it gets too high, I think.

Yesterday I put 2 Legbar roosters in with my 2 recessive white LF Ameraucana hens . Adding recessive white to the EE mix . Put my Rhodebar EE mix together in a breeding pen .

I ordered some numbered cable tie bands from Stromberg's, they sent their catalogue. Where do they get all the birds they sell? I have been in Pine River and do not recall ever seeing a place big enough to hold all the breeding stock they have in the catalogue.

I believe they are Cochin bantams, although it doesn't say... I love Cochin bantams, they are my fav breed, very round.

Actually, no, they are not Cochins, they don't have feathers on their feet
