I ordered some numbered cable tie bands from Stromberg's, they sent their catalogue. Where do they get all the birds they sell? I have been in Pine River and do not recall ever seeing a place big enough to hold all the breeding stock they have in the catalogue.
Just a mailing address in Pine River . They do not have any breeding stock . They buy everything they sell . Many sources .

I saw an address in pine river for Strombergs when I first started my chicken journey. Thought I'd save chicks the travel sickness in a USPS box. But no. No storefront to pick up chicks in pine river. Must just be where the push paperwork and answer phone calls.

Ahhhh thank you jerryse for the gorgeous fluff pictures.

Welcome Violetsfeathers to the thread and back to your Minnesota roots too. Iowa is nice... But Minnesota has a bit more of a break in the corn fields.

Chickens ranged all day. They must have been roosting already at 4:30 though as I tracked blood to the base of the roost off of Roger. He jumped down ... Maybe banged the aluminum feeder and broke a big ole spur off or in half. He bled like a stuck pig all the way up to the house... Anxious for scratch or something. Gosh that bird is hard on his feet. We got the bleeding stopped with corn starch. I am going to get some of that bleed- stop stuff that Jerry uses though. Just have it on hand. He lay relaxed in my lap again afterwards. I trimmed down the other spur while he was there. Mating season and all. May as well help my hens' backs. DS and Sadie racing around the house. Tootsie laying in my lap watching the insanity.

I did something today that I haven't done in a very long time. After work, I stopped in the store and picked up a carton of eggs. You might be curious why a guy with 50 laying hens is buying eggs... Perhaps I am crazy!?!?

I need fresh material to write about on our farm page so I bought eggs to do some segments on the difference between our farm fresh eggs and store bought eggs. I will try and share on here as well for fun. I am going to try and focus on making this educational and not snarky or high and mighty.
