Surviving Minnesota!

Ahhhh Maybe I should stop by. . . . I could use some chicken talk anyway. Is Judy around today? Maybe I would bring the two roos for you to look at and see if you want either or both of them. They look so different from each other. What say you?

I am pretty busy today, if I get off my butt and stop drinking coffee, I have to meet a guy in Orrock mid day with some Creamettes. Then I have to take 3 turkey hens for a one way ride to Coffee's house. Judy is working, But if you want to stop by you can for a short cup of coffee and chicken talk. I can show you tons of babies. I have 7 pens of them. I will not need to see the two guys as I have decided who is getting to go to the shows this year. Unless something happens... Also I got a call yesterday from a guy I sold two roosters too (creamers). One was kind of ambiguous and ended up being a hen. He is a nice looking creamette! I will post a picture of it in a second.

BTW BC.. I did the washing machine wrong! I called talked to this morning about it. Apparently she thinks I should not be washing screws and jackknives in "her" machine. She did call it her machine, so from that I take it I am not allowed to use it again.

Ralph that is a great deal! Maybe I will accidently put a hammer in our washing machine! Well... I guess I would rather wash a load or two of laundry instead of doing extra chores to make up for the damage to the washer...

My mis-sexed creamette I gave away......

They are both nice looking birds, he really lucked out!

Yes but not right now, I may have found homes for them but I am waiting a couple months till I know what chicks I will sell (they might go with the chicks or I might have to sell them to make room for chicks). Their names are Maple and Peaches, I am selling them because they are not friendly and I have other chickens that I love.
There is also a white crested black polish bantam pullet I am trying to get my sister to sell, she lays every day but is mean when you collect eggs while she's on them.
All three will be a year old April 9.
I'll let you know if I can not find homes for them.
Do you have bantams? What other chickens would they live with? (Trying to choose best home)
That is a good idea! Make him a fake beak!
Okay, that's all right. I don't know if I would be able to get them for sure. I have a 3 year old Maiden rock bantam hen, and a pair of Mille Fleur Old English Game bantams, which will be a year old sometime this spring I think. Along with 11 ducks and two geese.

@bantiesrule do you remember when they did hatch?

I think I should tell everyone now instead of later, I am not an adult, even though I wish I was, I am actually a teenager. I want everyone to know so that they don't take this the wrong way.

That's fine, don't try to grow up to fast though!

There's many young adults on this thread. I think Holm is only 7 1/2

Nope there are at least 4 I think.

Thats awesome! R u going to use her for a milk cow? Theres nothing better than fresh milk from a Jersey. They have the best milk I think and they r sweet cows too! Our Jersey is filling up with milk so its only a matter of time till we start milking. Show cows are fun to have around! They r so docile from being handled everyday. I showed a Tarentaise/Gelbvieh cross lat summer and she is still so nice. I could even milk her if I wanted. Except she is getting bred this summer since she didnt take last year.

Yep we are using her for milk! I'm super excited. Most teenagers wouldn't be excited about getting a milk cow but I am!!

For me it is that everyone makes fun of me because I am the only one in the small town that raises chickens, so every time I ask a girl out on a date, they say no because people make fun of me. Take today for example, I was in the newspaper 2 weeks ago for raising chickens, and my grandma, she had good intentions, she bought me a t-shirt that states, "Chickens Make Me Happy", to wear at the interview, but it didn't come in until yesterday and she made me wear it today, so everyone in my grade, 9th grade,  made fun of me for it.

My mom bought me a sweatshirt like that. I also have a shirt that says I love my chickens! I really like then but I would get made fun of all day long!! And I'm in the 8th grade. But I'm one of the best athletes in the whole school so I would be made fun of so much it wouldn't even be funny...
