Surviving Minnesota!

I just read a post in a thread on Red Rangers, Which I think is the same as dixie rainbows. The person must be from Minnesota as they get their feed at L&M. But they said they hate them they are mean and low weight on camp day.

The person also did not like CX's. My Favorite chicken because they are such sweethearts!

Bert Jr's Mom is a Rainbow, As is Bertha's. I am just amazed when people do not like the CX's or the Rainbows as they have such sweet personalites. I did see they raised them on 22% protein. Maybe that makes them mean.:lau

I guess I am going to have to havea class on raising CX's and include in it how much it hurts a CX's feelings to be called a frankenbird.

I am thinking I might start saving some of Bertha's eggs when I get back from my trip to put inthe incubator around the first of the year. I could have toads by Feb 1st! which would mean HUGE roatsers in May!

I don't think rangers are quite the same as rainbows. Same concept, different recipe :)

A guy on that thread just said the same thing.

I have seen so many here claim they are the same, I just thought they were. Oh Well, not the first time someone was wrong on this site. Even if it might be the first time I was ever wrong..

I should back up my claim by saying I called the Hoover hatchery where mine come from to get details about the rainbows and he said they are different and that they don't not consider them to be hybrids. Aka they breed Dixie to Dixie for their chicks. They are obviously a conglomeration of breeds

So let me get this straight. the rainbows from Hoover are rainbows crossed to rainbows?

So whatever went into a "rainbow" in their firts generation is what we get from them now?

Are the red rangers a breed or a mix? I assumed all the meat birds were a mix and not really a straight breed is that correct or not?

I should say a lot of my birds came from Hoover and I really like the birds and the service they gave me. PLus all the packing peanuts.
