Surviving Minnesota!

Mr. Porter hasnt got back to me yet. I need to find out how to get him on facebook... Oh mother!

She doesn't mind the bug. But she didn't like the cat we snuck inside... Or the giant lab that slept by my window for three nights... Or the sparrow... Or the batch of bunnies...
You my dear sound like the perfect boy.. Keep that young spirit as long as you can..

I can send you the link, you just send a request to his page.  He is kind of strict though, he only wants Genetics discussed on there.

There is also a heritage turkey FB page.  BUT it is over run with old people!

I dont want him to get mad at me.... But how else will I get my question answered!! I choose........(dramatic pause)......... The link!

I would love 2 but I'm sitting in my car a block away from my house and don't have computer with me.. I'm on my 4th house showing of the day. Me, hubby, 3 dogs just sitting in the car.. Hope we get an offer..

It will! They are going fast right now!

I do, they are not great pictures. Bert Juniors Brothers turned out barred and Bert did not. Explain those genetics to me...

The one is a Creamer, the rest are Bert's brothers.
Short answer he did not inherit barring . Long answer the hen was not barred and Bert has 1 barring gene . Hens can only have 1 barring gene ( hemizygous ) . In chickens it is the female that determines the sex . In humans it is XY or XX . In chickens I think they use ZW not sure which letter is the double . This makes your head hurt just thinking about it .

They all had Dixie Rainbows for mothers, which I assume means they could be anything. I cannot be sure they had the same Mothers or not, Bert Sr was there Daddy. I had 3 rainbows for Mommies.

I knew the females controlled the sex, and about the WZ. I still find it funny they did not all turn out barred or white and orange. They are nice birds though huge bodies and big thighs! I a thigh man, I love big thighs!

wait until I finish my new book...
