Surviving Minnesota!

So I walked the dogs for a good hour. It is so nice outside. Then I cleaned the coop and run really good. I left the run door open so they could come and go while I worked. They mostly stayed inside after finding out that white stuff is cold. I moved their food and water up and took down that nesting box that was up high that they love. Then I fixed up the nesting boxes inside the coop. Hopefully they will begin to use them again. There was an egg in one of those nesting boxes earlier.

Next week I will be at my DS and DDIL taking care of grand dogs while they go sit on a beach for a week. So my DH will have to collect the eggs and I figured that the nesting boxes with the pop up lid will be easier on him than going into the run. When it happens that he does chick duty he kind of gets a little excited (very little) about having chickens. I will probably come home one afternoon to work on company stuff and make sure the water and feed in the run is clean and full.

Yes,,Dwayne was mailman out this way, his brother is Ronnie, who use to work for the phone company...

And their grandmother was my Grandpa's sister. Whatever that is to us. I think I have that right. We are an old family in this area and have been here for a LOOONG time.


So it could have ended worse for you,,,LOL I think I have that all correct.

Well, what do they say? We are related someway - usually separated by six generations at the most.

I accepted a less $ offer but still more then I thought I would get, but there wasn't a contingency to sell their home. They are having the home inspection done tomorrow.. Super good news. Not very far off in the future and just think . . . when the weather starts warming you will begin a new adventure on a farm! I am excited to hear the tales of how this new adventure progress.

Hey ya'll! Currently it's 37 down here and raining hard. Thundering too. Just miserable. So tonight we will get sleet, followed by ice, then 3-6 inches of snow. But hey....on the bright side we have six brand new snow plow "attachments ".

I have coons around me, but they come out after dark and so are rarely seen. I believe that with all the other predators the young have a very low survival rate.
Porcupines are bad news. The veterinarians love them. Have you ever watched the Dr. Pol show on TV? On top of that problem they do much damage in the forest to many varieties of trees.
I love Eagles and Turkey Vultures (sorry Ralphie). They chase the hawks off and I have never had an Eagle or a Vulture bother my birds.
