Rhetts the baby calf is beautiful. Too bad momma isn't a fan. And what a pain in the rear for you guys that he appears to be orphaned. We had a few cattle that were like this and the calves were bottle fed or turned into robbers. Whatever was working or needed to be done.
Total pita. That cow ... Not sure what to make of her with her swelled up rear and lack of interest if she's worth the effort again but maybe some bonding with the stanchion will happen. Give her some time yet.

Robbers are calves that roam the pasture drinking milk from other mothers.

And Egads! Is an old fashion exclamation and works well on stories about young boys, snakes and baby robins.

Driving to work today was worse than the drive home last night. Drifts up the the grill of my truck and icy between them. A fish tailed once and managed to recover without incident fortunately. All the time spent doing donuts and drifts in parking lots pays off

My chickens are grumpy today as the wind blew snow into their run. They don't like going on the snow until it is well packed down and even then they won't go out of it is windy.

I a having an internal argument today.

First, I think you should all know I do not like the return to winter that Mother Nature has given us.

I was perfectly happy last weekend, now not so much.

The internal argument could become an external one if my DW is aware of this argument..

Mother Nature put the XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX snow in my drive and yard, I am thinking mother nature should remove it!


Further we are so close to spring it seems like a good idea to not waste the gasoline I would use moving snow and save it for the garden and mowing. After all how much more snow can we get when it is nearly spring out.

I have a nagging feeling I should move the stuff, but I am going to try to resist. This will all be moot, of course, once Judy makes up my mind for me.

I don't know what your forecast is up there but we only have 1 day above zero (34) predicted in the next 2 weeks and we are due for more now that day.

In the next 10 days only Saturday and Sunday get above freezing. The 10 day forecast looks so much like winter! 4 of the next 10 show snow.

It is hard to say how much we got the wind has really moved it into drifts. I am going to guess 3-4 inches. My wife's jeep only drug in a couple places going out the drive. Those were in drifted areas. Out the west window the grass is showing and it is nearly bare because of the wind. The deck has about 6 inches on it, but it swirls and falls off the roof onto it.

I suppose a better argument to be having with myself is: Do I use the Bobcat or ATV to move the snow....
