Surviving Minnesota!

Ivie. Here is the thread... I did not think I would like one of these things. I thought it was too city and too hippie like for me. I love the thing, the chicks love it...

@Blooie came up with some good ideas!! She is very smart!

Lets hope its a toad!! I want to see some of your toads babies!! Could it be an Australorp?? Or a speckled Sussex??

You could take Klop up on his offer for boarding your cows. Then Judy won't have calves in her living room should they need some TLC.

You just have to convince my DW that we should :)

We have discussed doing it 'someday' but I know we have other fish to fry before I bring it up. First I need to figure out what we are doing with the house (building new, adding on, etc)
then do it. Then we would have to get the tilled field converted to a nice pasture. I would hope to say it is in the '5 year plan' :)

I like cows more than any pet we have ever had. They r alot nicer and actually like me! Welll... Some like me.... One of them likes to chase people... She hasnt for awhile though so I think its only a matter of time till we r friends...

Btw my definition of like is letting me go in the pasture without chasing me or running away when they see me. Onpy a few let me pet them. But they all let us get within a few feet of them...

I am hoping for toad!

I am thinking one day I had a toad egg that seemed to have a double dose of brown. I am not sure that is possible. BUT I collect the hatching eggs separate from the other eggs and put them on the egg rack as soon as I bring them in. I do that to keep them separate and so they are constantly turning.

I saw Bert on a hen yesterday, but I doubt he was there long enough to do his job. Between the large size of his girl friends and his large frame, things may not work out well. I also have another hen that appears to have a bad leg. It is one that is laying. She is 100% CX not Bertha. The Cx's are just very hard to keep healthy over winter for me.

i saw someone else doing this and i thought about it also. But we ordered one of those ceramic heat throwers and they come under that when they are cold. It does an awesome job. But we need to start weaning the heat back a bit. Glad that little replica of mama turned out for you. i like it
