Surviving Minnesota!

I drove tgrough a herd of 16 deer the other day! I was scared of hitting one! That day we saw over twenty deer on the ride home. They all group up by the feed bunks at the neighbors. And they love the alfalfa hay fields!

I decided to join this thread since the ND one is super slow! Even though I live closer to Montana..
Welcome to the Thread I Love Layers. NoDAKers are like Minnesotans...you'll fit in fine. Close to Montana? That's a nice place to be.

Pumpkins face is all better!

So glad to see Pumpkin healed.

I am a North Dakotan, but someone came on the North Dakota Site and said I could come here and chat with everyone.
I live on a 17 acre farm raising chickens and beekeeping.
Does anyone else have bees and collect honey?
Welcome chickenlover292. Your farm sounds fantastic. Would love to raise honey. But we have a 300-400 lb sow Black Bear that visits my coop and neighborhood bird feeders in the spring when she wakes up hungry. I'm afraid there would be nothing left of bee-hives if she got wind of that project.

@jerryse Lets see some pictures of that hound dog!!

I am so excited!! I can get my Buckeyes in about 3 weeks!!
Holm you will like them. They are hefty birds.

Why not have another 'hen' get poopy with you when she sees the laundry pile? Ya just keep racking them up Ralphie!

My Boss had a near miss last night too Kloppers. The Deer are like ants in the ditches up here. Green must be sprouting there at least. Picked up my daughter from practice and it was nuts--deer every where. It's a good sign that the winter was definitely not too harsh around here I guess.

EJB Wolves roaming the streets of "civilization" is not a comfortable thing to see. Ugh. They belong in the woods scared of humans. That's where they belong. Management must be a trifle skewed in the Duluth area. Not good for citizens and their pets. Not good for the wolf.

You women libbest will be glad to know, I had to put my own coveralls in the washer this morning. She walked right over them without washing them! We will be checking the pre-nup assignment of duties about this!

Holm, you will be very happy with the Buckeyes I think. Perhaps it will take your mind off the ducks?

Ralphie, interesting stuff regarding the White CLB. This kind of stuff makes breeding more fun than just chicken keeping in my opinion. I wish you luck in your efforts and hope you are successful.

Oh I enjoy my women's work. Don't get me wrong. But I love it so much that I think the family should partake and see how much fun it is too.

Oh no. My ducks are here to stay. I love them. I do plan on selling my African geese this fall and and use the money from them and their babies to get a pair of Giant Dewlap Toulouse or Sebastopols.

I think I'll like the Buckeyes. They are beautiful birds. Minnie brags them up alot and her and I get along really well. I am so excited to meet her!

Thanks, were they from a hatchery? I think I found someone on Craig'slist
https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/wsh/grd/5478198025.html

I'm not sure because they hatch a lot of eggs themselves. However, they had a lot of cochins, so I'd say hatchery. I'm actually bringing them my Black Copper Marans Rooster on Friday. The owner has a few hens he wants to put him over. And Steve loooooves the ladies.....ugh.

I did see that post on CL. Amery would be a hike for me, but maybe closer for you?

@Minniechickmama might have some Cochins available, too, or hatching eggs.
