Surviving Minnesota!

I would say that Feed stores are definitely mislabelled Ameraucana's and are actually EE's. Typically. If you look in the stock tanks and see a varied myriad of colors and chipmunk strips....EE's.

I would venture though that breeders advertising Ameraucana's on Craig's List should know better how to label their birds. But I'm sure that varies person to person on CL. LOL. So there are some color questions you could ask. Black, Lavender? That might tell you if true Ameraucana or not.

I would bet not. They were told that's what they were and they just hatched their eggs.

Violas or Johnny jump ups

These may remind you of woodland Phlox but are actually Hersperis Matronalis or Dames Violet , Dames Rocket , Sweet Rocket a wild flower / weed from Europe .
The pear grafts are starting to grow . Maxine is the most growth grafted last year . Honey Sweet , Hudar and Savinac . I have Stacey pear on a small root stock . The last 3 are hardy enough for zone 3 .

I'm sorry it's Ustream.  It's a live camera feed from a 1st grade classroom.  So go to ustream.com then in the search bar put in wha-1st-grade-chicken-eggs

There's some pips showing in the welsummer eggs and the EE's are also showing signs of pips.  Silkie eggs have not pipped just yet.  And the Bogtown special is saying, "HURRY UP YOU GUYS!!!" Kicking them around.  LOL.

I peeked at the stream and see 2 chicks now!!

When I was at the feed store a ton of people were buying the "Ameraucana's" up. They were looking at the color/plummage charts to see what their chickens would look like as adults. I just wanted to say NO! Lol! But reality is, most folks get them for egg color and they'll get that with EE's. Plus, EE's are just cool looking in my opinion. I picked up 5 of them.

Very rarely do I see Ameraucana spelled correctly on CL. I just pass over those ones. Ha hah!

Make sure you post more pictures of chicks hatching! That's the coolest part.

Not a very good pic . This cockerel had a rose comb Icelandic dad and a SC light brown Leghorn mom . He has a rose comb / single comb . Silver from dad and gold from mom . I may use him on some EE later to create cushion combs . Should be winter proof comb on him as his dad had no problems .

Was that you in the ustream video?

No I work in a different place. It may have been my friend who is the teacher there. We went halvsies on the eggs.
