Surviving Minnesota!

I finally had to turn my winter lights back on! my girls are slowed down so bad! they have been going to roost about 7pm everynight too while it is still light out but the coop is dark. I think I made a mistake turning the light timers off 2-3 weeks ago.

hopefully they pick back up quick as we had to turn away egg orders for the first time ever today! we are under 50% efficiency right now!

I just squeezed in a dozen for someone who wanted some today. I had an early layer this morning thankfully. I may have to put some solar string lights in the coop. Mine have been roosting early as well.

Lucky Duck, Erli.

In Due Time MinnesotaNice. And 4 is a nice number of those.

Here is my recipe: (Kids, close your eyes)

2 packets of stevia, 1/2 lime squeezed, 1 shot of Malibu Rum, I stem of mint leaves squeezed and twisted, stir a bit. Add Ice and top off with charge water. Stir again. Delish. enjoy on the deck on a hot summer day. Very light and refreshing.

I've never heard of Stevia. You have to fill me in on what that is. Recipe noted.

Nathan congrats on the babies. I think u need more ducks to add some color to your ducklings/duck flock! And wouldnt you know I have an extra Pekin hen who needs to go before fall! I am done with ducks for awhile. But am noy done with geese!! I am trying to find some Sebastopols.... Lol
Hello! Thank you! How much does the pekin hen weigh, and how old is she? I'm not sure if I want a duck that weighs three times more than my mallard drakes.

I'm really happy with the color of the Buff/Mallard ducklings, I think I am going to try to breed some Apricot (Buff) mallards. Are you still planning to sell your Africans? Maybe you would like to buy some goslings from me?

I think Stevia is a healthier alternative to sugar, no idea on what it's made from though.

Stevia is an alternative sweetener made from the juice of the stevia plant. It is much sweeter than sugar and lower calories as well. Much better for you than saccharine or other fake low calorie sweeteners.

Nathan I think she is around 7-8lbs. I am planning on selling my Africans. I want to get into SQ birds and trying to breed to the standard with them would take me YEARS to do. I dont need anymore goslings right now!

Oh so not too big for a pekin. How old is she? Haha, you would breed your africans to the standard and I would breed them back to Swan geese! Everyone has different priorities, thats awesome you want to conserve the old breeds.

I grow it in my herb garden

I use the crushed leaves in tea or you can dry it/grind it etc.... sweeter than sugar and it's a natural plant.

LOL. MNnice - sounds like you need some cheering up! I love days like this. Not if I am camping - which does not happen too many times during the year anymore. I have been working inside the run alllll morning. Pulled the entire coop apart. Going to move its location and make some changes on the run. Just came in for a food break and reading. Saw MNnice and thought I would try to make you smile. Hope your day gets better.
