I'll trade you my adolescent roo for yours. Mine is a beautiful Buff Orpington -PITA....he is really handsome but it ends there. Constantly picking fights with 2nd in line RJ (Ralphie Junior - A SS cockereal that is about to become first in line.) In 30 minutes of free range - PITA attacked the necks of 3 large Rainbows. My girls are 14 weeks old so they have no interest in his song or dance, and they sure as heck don't care for his neckings. PITA was going to be my daughter's fair rooster, at a mere 11 3/4 years old she looked him straight in the face and said "This behavior is unacceptable and you know it, you are no longer fair material.".....she followed it up by 20 minutes of armpit time. - I have got to give that girl more credit, I was concern about how I was going to break it to her that naughty chickens were not bearing our family name at the fair.
yea, mine are only 10 weeks old? So the necking thing is just a rooster thing then and he is not trying to kill her? All the other boys are mellow so far. He is the only one who attempted to come at me so I am guessing he already has top spot. He is a beauty (an Australorp) Black with shiny green/blue colors in his feathers...and BIG!
I didn't think my roo's would start to mature that fast...I thought I had more time

Wow way to go to your daughter!
