Surviving Minnesota!

I'll trade you my adolescent roo for yours. Mine is a beautiful Buff Orpington -PITA....he is really handsome but it ends there. Constantly picking fights with 2nd in line RJ (Ralphie Junior - A SS cockereal that is about to become first in line.) In 30 minutes of free range - PITA attacked the necks of 3 large Rainbows. My girls are 14 weeks old so they have no interest in his song or dance, and they sure as heck don't care for his neckings. PITA was going to be my daughter's fair rooster, at a mere 11 3/4 years old she looked him straight in the face and said "This behavior is unacceptable and you know it, you are no longer fair material.".....she followed it up by 20 minutes of armpit time. - I have got to give that girl more credit, I was concern about how I was going to break it to her that naughty chickens were not bearing our family name at the fair.

yea, mine are only 10 weeks old? So the necking thing is just a rooster thing then and he is not trying to kill her? All the other boys are mellow so far. He is the only one who attempted to come at me so I am guessing he already has top spot. He is a beauty (an Australorp) Black with shiny green/blue colors in his feathers...and BIG!

I didn't think my roo's would start to mature that fast...I thought I had more time

I need to cull at least 6 and want to keep 3. I have 12 young ladies right now and one BPR that I still can't decide if it is a roo or not. The comb and wattle are paler and not as large as the other teen roo's but not as small and pale as the teenage girls? I am leaning toward just a bad genetic roo so then I will need to cull 7 apparently sooner than I thought.

Wow way to go to your daughter!

Ralphie, I would just like to mention that the rabbits and deer are also advocates of free range gardens.
Isn't it just special to be searching in the pouring rain for a critter that can not be found? Especially to discover the next day that it survived the elements without assistance?

As relates to the Megs Millions, I am sorry to report that I hope you come in second. Be sure to be watchful for falling coconuts!!

I am beginning to wonder if an intervention is in order for you? to have a call that chicks have unexpectedly arrived at the Post Office is not so bad, but to not even remember what variety they may be is perhaps teetering on the edge of serious addiction? In any case I hope they are something which you will enjoy.

Ralphie: What a night looking for... Guineas?! Glad you found the PITA, nonetheless.

I too am hoping for Mega Millions as it looks like I will be hiring somebody to take out that old boat lift and put in the new. The service for that will cost more than the boat lifts put together I'm sure. Good luck to you all though.

Ralphie: when you get home please tell us what came in the fuzz-ball box from Cackle.

I am home...

I am looking at the packing list..

It is labeled "fufu Package A"

It includes ;

Silver Duckwing Yokohama
Silver Laced Polish
Silver Spangled Spitzhauben
Cuckoo Marans

I must have been on a Silver kick the day I ordered them.

Sorry I haven't been on here much but now I have the mobile app because I got an iPhone SE instead of a flip phone but it wouldn't allow me to get the app cause of technical difficulties

Or you'll have to wait until you have wifi.

Daisy the big buckeye has a nasty bumble foot. I'll have to dig on it later. I mowed the lawn. Just finished now. Saw it when I counted chicken heads closing up the coop. Done for the night. Dixie's brooder in the garage got a clean out. Did some spoiling with June and Patsy. I am their food goddess. Meal worms and a few wild raspberries have me almost some lappers. They are mini chickens right now. So so cute. The black EE from Minnie is amazing. I should have got more of them. Omg she's cute. The little wellie is bossy yet more skiddish but totally cute as well. She'll be quite beautiful I'm sure.
