Surviving Minnesota!

that is something I think - remember I haven't ever done it yet - we will be able to do in the woods in Aitken. the tower up there is just across the Sllllooooowwwwww highway from us and about three blocks into the woods. We will have better water, better phone coverage and maybe better television options. Wouldn't that be awesome.

I have grandma day with my four-year old grandson today. What a reason to get out of bed! He calls them special days. What a compliment!

I hope it snows enough that all the dirty snow goes away. Six more weeks and this weather should break. After all the snow we in February and especially March.

Have a good Grandma day... I was going to say a Great Grandma day, but figured you would howl on that...

You should have super streaming where you are, you're so close to the main office for our Podunk phone company. I have good streaming here, I would have better (great) but I am too cheap to rent the modem from Big Lake phone....( windstream). I bought my own and the system they have requires dual lines to get the full 100g of data, so I only get 15g.

Even with both line into mine it will not give me the full speed. Sometimes being cheap hurts.

I thought I should mention that yes you do need an internet connection in order to stream with the Fire TV.

Ralphie I certainly will give you that lead time. I am excited to hatch again! I just don't have a place set up to keep birds in longer with the cold weather out right now. We are building another coop this summer so the one we have now will be our grow out coop and the older birds will be in new coop. Now to figure out exactly what to put in that new coop. When DH is a carpenter the possiblities are endless!

I have chicks outside, I made a "coffin" for them cost me less that 15 bucks to make and bought a heater with a thermostat for 15 at wally's world. They seem to be doing good in it. I am going to make a larger one today and buy another heater for that one.

We have direct TV now. Internet hooked up from the local phone company. Needed for streaming.

Only problem with the little box is no local news, or other media outlets. But that may not be a bad thing...? Lol. Sports may be missing as well. Idk I didn't look for them.

Watched ' Lion' on it last night. Impressed. With movie and the box. Good show. We do Kodi on the box then we click on Exodus then you find the show you want to watch. I suspect this is all not kosher with some TV movie people...? Idk... It's weird.

It's snowing now!

BB tonight for DD.

Minnesota nice I found a wood mold - loaf style- with a silicone liner. It works slick. One could probably build one too using the specs on the Amazon site.

Snowing here.
My cold seemed to be going away nicely then the other day I started coughing more and my ears are popping. GGRRR I found a recipe for lemon honey cough syrup and am making it now, you're not supposed to let it boil because it changes the medicinal properties of the honey, mined started boiling....

Yukon Jack really cold is all you need, after a few the cold will not bother you...

It is now snowing on the hill above the big lake. I am anxiously awaiting spring !
Ralphie, in what aisle at the pharmacy section do you locate that Yukon Jack cough syrup ?
No eggs from the Polock or Appeltini pullets yet ? It seems that you are starting to reach full stride with your hatching at this point ?

Nothing from the Appletinis . I get 3 eggs a day from the Pollacks, I have 3 hens. I know I was not impressed with them but I am really starting to like them. I am actually thinking of making one of those 2 tier tractors for them with the coop and a cage above and grass underneath. The eggs are a small medium or a large small., they average 1.5 ounces.

I am at the point I can sell some birds and eggs now. I have some for MnChickMom's daughter to pick from then I will sell to others. I put an ad on Craiglist yesterday. I need to make a web page but that is so beyond my abilities. I have seen legbars being sold for $30 a chick. Which shocks me as I am half that. And those birds have bad confirmation.

Did I tell you I took Ed out of the breeding rotation and put Weinerhead in? I also pulled the third stringer in and put him with the outside PC. I also pulled the crippled Maran rooster.

I think you need some Yokohama's! They are also cool birds.

As far as the Yukon Jack goes, you need to visit the adult drug store. Not all of them carry it. Our local store says only 2 people buy it. I assume the rest have not learned of the medicinal value of it yet.

OMG - You must have telapathy or something.....I was just penning a personal email about chicks. Both my daughter and son have been digging through the research about what to feed, how warm, they even found a used Standards book on amazon and sent me the link. I am pretty sure it is time for restrictions to be lifted from that son....at least for Mom's sanity.
