Surviving Minnesota!

Yeah, them too.

Should be a nice day to take the plastic off the run, has everyone else removed their plastic- if you used it? maybe I'm a procrastinator?

I am leaving mine on for one more week. Not trusting the weather man or the weather.

The sky is not as gray now . Maybe the rain is over for a day or so . Weatherman says it will return Sunday . Passing the time watching the History Chanel today . Cabin fever is getting to me .

You are quite the lucky farmer/rancher with all the heifer calves. In no time it will be time to swap out the bull! :)

I don't think we will be keeping any heifers. We have a friend who is breeding some this summer and he will turn them out with the bull on the day we turn ours out so we will just buy some replacement heifers this fall instead. Although the heifers we have so far are already lookin good :D

I also got 2 new turtles yesterday which puts my total to 5. The new female is huge!

What kind of turtles do you have?

I'm envious of the 3-4 eggs a week that you guys get!

That quote from Pine Hill Silkies was pretty generous. I WISH mine matured that young, most of the time I'm first able to sex the black or whites at 5-8 months of age. I usually first get eggs out of them at 10-18 months old. 30-60 eggs a year is way too high. Here's a good example: I have 12 buffs in my breeder pen and I have gotten 2 , yes 2 total eggs from them in all of 2017 amd neither was fertile. My blacks consist of 24 breeders. Today I got 2 eggs and yesterday none. I thought I was doing good with 2! My white pen has 12 breeders and I might get 1 egg a week total from them. My partridge has 12 birds and I got up to 4 eggs a day earlier this spring and now nothing at all. Broodiness is highly contagious with them. 1 gal takes over a nest box and pretty soon 3 more crowd in. Next day that whole variety is done and they are spreading word to next pen. I have about 2 dozen babies in the growout pens over 3 weeks old. Out of those 24, 8 have dq's and have to be sold as pets and even more are definite cockerels so far.

I have yet to see a Silkie egg and I've had them consistently the past few years! My splash became dinner on an unusually nice winter day. No luck finding a few more splashes to replace her. I can see why now.....Lol....

I was just thinking about it today. I might tomorrow depending on my level of ambition. I'm sure I'll procrastinate much more longer than you!

Red eared sliders. They are about the easiest pet to have for young children. Especially since it's pretty hard to kill them. If a kid ever wants fish i always say get turtles, the best part is if you go on vacation they don't need to be fed while you're gone just feed them extra before you leave.
The 3 I previously had were 5 years, 4 years, and 3 years old All are males. The new ones I got are older, one is a male and ones a female.

It's very dusty in the run

A little wind and rain might help.

And we are off to put steel on a barn roof. Please say a prayer for my husband who has no fear of heights and dangerous situations. Then say a prayer for said son who is taking after his father. Thanks all!

Morning . Ahh yes steel roofing . How well I remember my fall . I will pray for them . A safety rope helps . Plus 2 guys is good .

We are reroofing a dairy barn roof, it will be at least 6-8 men on the roof and another handful of women and one older man on ground crew, lull driving, and bobcat driving.
