The very best you can hope for is to share the title of worst Dad ever. I was given that award many times by my kids when they were young. Now that they are parents, I should see if I still have the title or they revoked it. It will be a few days before I will know if the title is revoked or not.

Because the best Daughter ever is with her family at their cabin today and leaves for 4-5 days of work in Texas somewhere and she is too busy to talk when working at another office...Worst Dad at least directed her well enough she has High Fluting job.....

I'm well aware of the phase. We hear it often. Just giving a feel for how the v day started. Because I know you've all heard it before.

I could talk for hours on that one . One idea is the EE pen is headed by a 1/2 dark Brahma rooster . Testing a theory on eb brown at the E locus and barring . I think this could be the key to better slate legs in the presence of barring . It seems all laced birds are based on eb . Millie Fleur have slate legs with mottling . Usually a problem with slate legs and mottling also . Not so on Millie . So I will see . Takes awhile to get slate legs or at least green to test this theory . The genetic experts say I am wrong . I will see . I was told Millie have a unknown gene that allows good slate legs . I think the gene is known and is eb .

Morning . It is nice to sleep in a real bed . I have been in that camper sleeping on the kitchen table for nearly 5 weeks . Soft water showers a plus .

Just got home after spending 6 1/2 weeks in our camper. Didn't sleep on the kitchen table, but it sure was nice to sleep in our bed, in our house. I hear ya on the soft water shower, too...

I had hoped to take a couple of kids fishing this morning. They needed to pick up the basement first. I told them that before they could do ANYTHING that needed to be done. That was at 6:15. It's now 11:22. They haven't started. It's beautiful out.

The 6 y/o has once again informed me that I'm the worst dad ever because I don't care if they go outside and get exercise.

So here I am with a cup of coffee sitting on a log.

When our kids would say something similar, we'd tell them that if they weren't mad at us at least once a week, we weren't doing our job as parents right. Oddly enough, now that they're grown up, they still speak to us, and even come home to visit now and then..

Princess is broody again

I'm jealous. After being gone for 6 1/2 weeks, out of the 30+ chickens I'd hoped to have when I returned, I have 5 left. An adult rooster, 3 hens and a cockerel. One of the males will have to go soon, but I haven't decided which one. I have a little time yet, but not much as the cockerel is about 8 weeks old already. My best and favorite broody was killed (along with her three, 3-day old chicks) in the second of three predator attacks that happened while we were gone.

Hello, fellow Minnesotans! It's been a long time since I've posted, but have been checking in almost daily while we were gone. Just didn't have time to post much. Hope you all are having a good summer (Ralphie, I know you're not, but pray things will start improving soon for you!)

Her half sis is a bear to get out of broodiness. I swear she loves living in a elevated cage and cold water showers.

This is just her second time broody her sister Gloria was broody early this spring.
I don't know if I could put her in a cage and spray her with the hose.

Wanted to have chicken yesterday so wife comes back from shopping with fried chicken . Wanted my own chicken . No grease in them . Need to pick tomatoes to see if I have enough for sauce . Yeah I know I should take it easy . Weeds need sprayed . Need to finish mowing . Work piled up in my absence .
