Next year we will consider getting a hotel room in Hutch or my husband claims we will be camping next to Holms family singing by the propane camp fire. While the drive is only 1 hour 20 minutes one way, it did take a toll on my son and myself... we were not a force to be reckoned with yesterday afternoon or evening. But my father in law thought otherwise.... "I heard you and Austin (my son) are sitting in a ground blind for deer hunting this year, my brother has a nice deer stand on a trailer that he doesn't want. Let's fix it up and set it up." Two hours of fixing it to meet my father-in-laws standards and we are off to pull the stand out between the waterway, corn field and hay pasture. We saw multiple sets of deer prints, mostly doe and fawn prints. I am very thankful for my father-in-law getting things ready for hunting. This is the first year my husband and I will be hunting on our own property and my in-laws. Normally, we would hunt with my family, but that is an hour away and we need to finish lots of odds and ends at home before winter strikes.

My daughter is happiest about the change in hunting locations as this allows her to hunt with a rifle, my husband has been working with her on sighting in the 30.06, I will still be hunting with my 20 gauge shot gun in a rifle zone but lets be honest here...I'm only hunting this year so my son can come with and experience the hunt again. He may have to poke me to wake me up if a deer comes in range.

Sorry about the rough tails on some...

We were in cages too small for the boys, I know they are not a large breed, but they have such huge tails and were backing them into the corners and either breaking them (Dead Eye Jack) or roughing them up (the other boys). I might pay the extra for a large cage next year.

Holm is there a reason my Best of Breed first place Pullet has the ribbon cut off in the picture and the scrub Vicki won with has the blue ribbon showing right in the middle of the picture?

I am sensing some passive-aggressive behavior here...


Actually, I have to admit,,,AND DO NOT TELL OZ THIS!!!!! That scrub has a really nice body type. Looking at him I think he is Andy's kid.

Welcome Amber - it was nice to meet you this weekend and put a face with a name. I am Ivor's grandma to help you remember.
Still feeling lousy - beginning the second week. Just trodding along in the house getting stuff done. Perpetually downsizing but this time, I am actually becoming encouraged about the amount of stuff going out and nothing coming in.
