Has anyone had issues with Frostbite yet?

Yes I have... my blue cockerel. I have been putting bag balm on nightly

Cuddles is having major comb loss issues... I decided to not spend 400 bucks on his comb this year.

I have to go "out" for a while.....I have decided to NOT wear my fancy cowboy boots today...

I shall be traveling in Sorrels.... 23 degrees and a windchill of -173f....a tad chilly..

The chickens laughed at me when I opened the doors and told them to go outside...

I am thinking of getting these waterers next year. But I need to insualate the other walls so it doesn't freeze

@R2elk this is my version of your waterer... So far it's worked good but we haven't had any issues with frozen waterers for awhile... But we are going to hit -7 next week so we will see how much ice we get...

Colder here... my birds would like to go out, but I don't feel like herding them back in.

Holms my 2nd Wellie rooster, Sean Connery, has the back blade of his comb looking worse for the wear. And Junior going into his second winter has more black tips. so I guess we're having more of a winter than last. Not hard to beat. I took my own advise from a frostbite thread and took out the high roost. Too little too late. I think I need to plug in the coop here soon. I've been just bringing down water founts in the morning and they drink what they drink but with subzero coming I will plug in the flat panel and do the cookie tin heater for water while I'm at it.

Yesterday was the car fix at the Dealership. I had special coverage on a new Water pump and thermostat housing. But apparently NOT the thermostat. DH and a couple other men asked why that wasnt covered. I had the same question. As the thermostat was probably ruined due to housing issues? IDK. I'm just a dumb lady or so I felt that way as they jacked me for $100 on their engineering issue that begat other issues. But I digress.

Lovely drive down. But drive back ...my knuckles were the same color as the road.

Same thing this morning but worse for drive to work. Darn this rain business. It's winter! Just snow, Mom Nature!
Ralphie drive safe to Gilman. How's the campaign going? So funding for Rooster combs going into campaign signs and air time?

These are not a good choice for winter waterers IMHO they freeze too easy... and then you have to thaw them out... I prefer the rubber tubs...

To make up for the fact it means the next 6 months will be colder than a polar bear's butt.

These are not a good choice for winter waterers IMHO they freeze too easy... and then you have to thaw them out... I prefer the rubber tubs...

x2... plus they're plastic. They'd probably shatter in winter.
