Surviving Minnesota!

Winner!

I’m not sleeping well. So I feel this is a DQ.

Sometimes rarer breeds like say a jersey giant might not be bad from a hatchery. I think hatcheries now and then get birds from breeders to replenish breeding stock. Some more popular breeds will be smaller watered down version as they are probably selecting hens for laying an egg every day and roosters for breeding aggression from their own. But I have seen decent rare breeds from hatchery. Just saying.... and I suppose the lines aren’t as over done or have had as many poor selections if you know what I mean. Maybe I’m talking out of my tookus. But that’s what I envision.

Ahhh Ralphie! Bahahaha. Another bed time story for my kids. They liked the redneck lists and deck stories the best. But I’m sure this will due.

Blah ha ha ha ha ha !!!
Too freaking funny :lau:lau:lau

Did a little scouting in the woods. Found a bunch of these beauties. Left them alone based on gut instincts, it appears they are poisonous according to google. View attachment 1548329

They are beautiful. But yes that one there is poisonous. Amanita species I believe. Or however you spell it. highly photographed little mushrooms.

DD is going out with DH. Bow hunting. She got a wild hair. Borrowed a ladies bow set at 45. She can't pull back DH's. this one she can. And she's been hitting her targets. So her and Dad are going to give it a whirl. I think it will be a great experience if she gets one. I think DH is pretty excited to go with her too now. We only get one tag around here and he prefers rifle deer camp with his boys. So that's what he does. The Matthews has been getting dusty. I don't know why they don't allow seperate tags for different types of hunting. I think people hunting with bow is in low numbers anyways. IDK...

ILL, if you don't mind a question or two :

When you started to breed them did you get show quality birds to begin with, or did you just keep breeding until you got the traits you wanted? I ask as one of my goals is breeding Jersey Giants, and I keep reading that most hatchery birds are pretty underwhelming when full grown.

Thanks!
Hey I just saw that Minnesota will be hosting the National Jersey Giant show the 26th-28th this October! There will be a lot of breeders and sellers there if you’re interested!
