Ed & Al stopped out while I was unloading my trailer. They only live about 10 miles south of me and are like extended family! I used to have ALOT of pigeons...dang mink. Just a few yellow frillbacks and pheasant pigeons now.

yayyy the guy who keeps his cows out by our farm finally got everything home today. The small yard where he normally corrals them was so deep in mud that he had to run them through my haybarn. I couldn't get my hay in for winter until he got those gates down and crap cleaned up. I was down to just 3 small square bales so was almost in a panic. Hay wagon is loaded and sitting in my supplier's pole barn. I know what I'll be doing tomorrow.

I controlled myself on purchases at the show and sold alot so still came home with more empty carriers than what I brought. I got a really nice trio of standard black Australorps from Lew Wallace (brings me up to 12 of them now) and got a pair of standard barred cochins from Rick Klehr. We already have standard blue and black cochins out of Rick & Lew's birds so not a totally new project....just new variety to play with.

Congrats to all ! MCM, if you have any Buckeye chicks to sell in the spring you should let me know as I am interested.

I should have better quality next spring as I spring as I purchased Teri Vos’s Breeder’s this fall and will cross them with mine from urch. Teri’s line also originated from Duane Urch so hopefully a small outcross will be ok to work with. My hens were so small from inbreeding.

Good morning. Fun to see the pics from the show and to hear all the goings on.

It was a good weekend here too.
Halloween event was a success with lots of compliments. Yesterday got some much needed house cleaning. DH and DS put out a two man ladder stand. But with DH's blown L4-L5 he hobbled back home saying he needed an extension ladder because it was too much to get up. Physics can be a bear.
Cleaned some poop out of the coop. Took care of the nest boxes with new bedding. I have two birds that like to roost on a narrow shelf that I put my plug in strip in the winter. and they are pooping in inconvenient spaces and dirtying up the popular nest box. It just looks bad...it usually doesn't get inside. Nonetheless I'd like to block them off and teach them to roost where they should. I've got some ideas. but it would be building higher roosts than I like. But then they are light little hens with good wings so IDK...they'd probably be just fine. Just ideas.

Jerry: Looks like you have a gorgeous Maple tree there.
With the hard rain on Saturday night...alot of the Oaks dropped their leaves. They usually hang tough...but that rain was big droplets.
