Surviving Minnesota!

Cold again this morning -8 windchill at -45.
Yesterday was miserable, our tractor with a cab, 186 hydro, has been down for about a week, so my dad has been using our cabless 2010(model not year) John Deere to feed. It isn't bad as long as it is not windy, which it was yesterday. So he went out to feed in the John Deere, a while later he comes back inside looking frozen and says "get me a cup of coffee". Here the John Deere died, and quite a ways away from the house, so he had to walk back home. Went and jumped it and it was all good after that.
2 hour delay for school today. With the wind yesterday there were drifts on the highway, but you couldn't see them until you were almost on top of them with thr blowing snow. Hoping our rode is good or at least doesn't have any ridicoulous drifts

One chick so far, the other day my room dropped to 58° and the incubator also dropped 3°... hoping that doesn't affect it to much

So time to share since Ralphie has a Dom rooster in solitary . I have found fertility to drop to almost 0 after 10 days . When changing roosters I usally remove the rooster and save eggs for a week . Put new rooster in at 10 days and save eggs starting at 2 weeks . Yes you will find longer wait times from other sources but this works for me . So once a week breeding should give good fertilty for AI or conjugal visits on each hen .
