So... I had the absolute worst day with my mother. Not her fault mind you but the idiot siblings fault and his equally low IQ girlfriend. They are angry that they are not allowed to roam free snooping in the buildings here. I bought the place from the parents before my father passed in November. But they feel entitled to rummage and take things. How do I know they have been snooping you may ask. They commented on my coop set up, live traps I have set, and the state of dog runs I have been working at tearing down. They have been trying to convince my mother that I'm in breach of contract. Family business is never nice. This is the same family that complains when I give my mother eggs but not him. Ugh . He may rightfully find himself on the wrong side of the sheriff yet.
Last time they were poking around he tried to dump off "chickens" on me. Bantam game fowl... all roosters! ok rant done. We will see in he trys breaking and entering this summer.

Ralphie, I have had Wheaten Marans hens for several years from the flock I will acquire. They have been very consistent layers of large eggs. Their productivity remains good as they age as well.
I like the color variety but will need to make changes to house the single comb roosters.

Been in similar situation. It sucked and we ended up dumping the property and moving 1000 miles just to get away from the toxic situation. We are much happier now and our kids have grown up away from the drama. I still get angry just thinking of everything that was stolen and all the crap we took from family. Needless to say I haven't spoken to my father-in-law in 10 years. Not an option for most people, but I'm not most people. lol

Thank you Ed . Fortunately I seem to have sisters that have worked equally hard to help our parents in hours of need and with mom now that dad is gone. Pretty lucky that way. How hard it must be to see the writing on the wall in a money situation. Hurtful for sure.

I’m interested in some wheaten marans next spring if you get some bonus eggs for hatching Ed.

Tomorrow is the ‘irish’ style wake for our German.

Went to Menards and they just got their trees in last night . Bought a Toka plum zone 3 hardy . Walmart had trees also . Had some Carmine Jewel bush cherries zone 3 maybe 2 . Canadian bred .
