Surviving Minnesota!

I think they (mine) will enjoy the sunshine later today.
My young ones might. The old ones won’t step outside. I open the door everyday for them and none go outside.

I even piled a bunch of brewers grain about 20 Cr from the door for them. They could care less, but they live it when I bring it inside for them.

The young ones have their own coop and run they are not with the older ones.

The 2 chicks raised by a turkey are out with the turkeys. The others the same age say nope

This morning I believe the low was -21 with a wind chill of -40. It is warmer by the big lake this time of year ? Now is -7 and high is forecast to be -2 here.
My chickens are very hardy and are out in the sunshine waiting for me to bring them some corn to munch.
This has been a long and hard winter it seems and Spring can not come soon enough to compensate for it !

It was -18 when I looked at 7:00. It's actually pretty nice now... 28°, 2mph W wind. Everyone at the main coop is out running around. The hens are still in the greenhouse. It's plenty big for them but I haven't been letting them out 'cause all the turkeys, etc. will invade their space if I leave the door open. :( I'm gonna make them a chicken-sized door tomorrow (it's supposed to get to 48°) if I can figure one out from stuff on hand.

Ok up to -1. one of my 17 year olds was ill this AM so I just told her to crawl back in bed. I just texted her to let out the birdies so they can stretch their drumsticks. So they'll get a few hours out of the warmer coop.
I kept the coop at 5 degrees last night with that lamp and panel heater. Happy with that.

Layers I am a huge fan of Cozumel as you may know. Good for you guys getting out of this ice box up here. Good timing my friend. We will be visiting again this year. That is our favorite spot.

It's amazing how small of a pop door turkey hens can get through
Mine can get through a cattle panel hole
