Saw part of it, couldn't watch his wife whine anymore and not lift a finger to do anything.
We had a series about two couples that lived for one full year as they would have in the 1800's. They had to build their own cabins, put in crops, hay, everything was done the 1800's way.
It was a all day chore to do the laundry and make bread.
Very, very hard life and interesting to watch.
Can't remember the name of the show but they had another one on Hudson Bay explorers routes through Northern Canada. Incredibly hard and wlderness travel.
Yeah, his wife wasn't too happy. If I was gonna give that a try there are at least a dozen women here on BYC I'd LOVE to try that with. They would be into it more than me and that's a good thing.
Anyhoo, I think the show you are talking about is Frontier House.

PBS put this on around 10 years ago(or so) and I watched almost every bit of it. It was one of the best reality series I've ever watched, complete with all the human drama. It showed how hard it really was to make it out there. Great show. I highly recommend it.
The show I was thinking about was called Pioneer Quest

I never saw Frontier House but I would like to.
